Someone who wants to assess the whole squad. He now totally knows what he’s got to play with an a pressure game.

We know we need a total reset and you’re losing your shit at our what? 3rd or 4th competitive game?

Get behind the manager and support?
Bullshit mate. No need to do that in this game. None whatsoever!! I’m sick of it. I like Ange but fuck me that was some stupid shit on view. And putting Scarlett on for GLC? 🤦🏻‍♂️.

I know everyone is starved to win something but bottom line is getting back to CL has to be number one priority for this club going forward and that means League takes priority.

It hurts like hell to lose but willing to bet Ange learned a lot more tonight about his squad than he would have by playing majority of his top 11. Certain players that put on in training certainly failed to impress in an actual match. He will now have full clarity on what this squad needs going forward and what players he can trust for our league games.

At least Richy scored, and Perisic has a great cross on him. I hope to see those two combine again, but I can’t help but think Richy just isn’t good enough, nothing comes easily or looks smooth with him, like nothing at all

VDV is brilliant, hope he’s okay

GLC, forget about him. He’s had enough chances now, he isn’t good enough and he doesn’t give a fuck.

Skipp is useless, he is worse than PEH and should be out the door

Forster made a few good saves, he’s not a bad back up

We’re lucky we have Maddison, Bissouma, Sarr & Bentancur

Can’t lie, that has properly fucked me off.

People brush it off but a club who has gone 15 years without winning a trophy really need to start getting serious.

The last decade the excuse was we also hsve Europe so have to rotate. No excuses now

For the sake of fuck!!!

I thought we were supposed to be giving Ange time?
This was the chance for him to learn about his squad in a proper game situation and while yes, I too thought we made too many changes, I can also see why he may have made the decisions that he did.

He'll have learnt a lot from tonight but it appears as though some of our fans have learnt nothing.
Give the man some time, we're not an overnight fix.

Ding ding ding we have a winner.

Predictable as fuck some of our "supporters".

My hope is that Ange now sees the difference between players in training and players in matches.

He put his trust in the second string and they didn’t step up. The first 20-30 minutes just didn’t look like what we’ve come to expect. Now, you do need to give credit to Fulham who came flying out of the blocks but I think he will have been surprised at what he saw:

Early days, live and learn.

Hojbjerg been sold yet?

I suppose on the plus side, we won’t have to watch most of those starters again until we get dumped out of the FA Cup by Ipswich.

Moe cringeworthy that some conspiracy theory that Levy has ordered Ange to make 9 changes and throw the EFL Cup?

Are you sure?

Didn't say Levy ordered Ange to make the changes. I just think at the beginning of the season, Levy would have told Ange that the priority was to get back into the CL places and the cups (especially the league cup) weren't as high a priority. Knowing this, Ange probably decided to give the reserve players a go.

Do you think he would have done this for a league game?

Guessed this would happen after a first loss.

Ange out is it now?

Quite worrying how some of you lot can go from 100 to 0 so quickly.

Ange barely had any pre season games to really test out the squad, yes, the SQUAD. He needed to use this game to test out more squad players.

Was it a huge gamble? Yes, but we cannot play the first 11 - 12 players for the whole season.

It's a gamble that didn't pay off, get over it, we move on.

And for the record, i'm quite proud of Sanchez for putting his name forward and stepping up to take a pen. Atleast he had the bollocks to do it, especially after all the shit he's had to take from some of you lot.
Don’t think people are that mad, more disappointed that we again do not take a cup seriously, and do to many changes at ones. And that is on Ange. He has been great the other games, but today he made a huge mistake making to many subs, and changing Scarlet for Gio, also indicates he wanted more to see the players than win. Still positive to Ange, but today he face planted

The weird thing is that there wasn't a single spurs fan who didn't let out a gasp when they saw Sanchez stepping up. if we know whats gonna happen then why cant all these qualified coaches?

I am so annoyed with that. Manager only has himself to blame. Same old story and same as all the other mangers we have ever had, except this time we have no European football so absolutely no excuse not to play a strong team!! A cups a cup at the end of the day and we haven’t seen one of them in over a decade!! Piss poor!

Couldn't believe Sanchez was even starting let alone taking one of the spot kicks. Agree it was a tough draw just the league (forget about winning that) and the FA Cup in January to play for and it isn't even September yet!

I'm pretty angry to be honest as was hoping for a good run in this competition and instead our rivals continue to laugh. Once upon a time wouldn't even have had to take part in this round now can't get past it, what a reality check.

As for Royal at right back Fulham exploited that time and time again. It's a long season and it may seem a longer one without a trophy, pray it's an easy run in the FA Cup then.

Poo.

Changes were fine imo but this is where those 2-3 players we need would make a difference, depth still not quite where we need it to be especially in attacking areas, RW & ST desperately needed and another CB & CM if GLC or PEH go.
I think the big problem first half is essentially we had a midfielder 5 of Gio, PEH, Skipp, Royal and Davies. That’s 4 players who are technically limited and not particularly comfortable with the ball at their feet in advanced positions with maybe the exception of Skipp. Gio was the only player who is more comfortable on the ball and he ended up looking completely isolated by Perisic and Solomon sitting so wide and the tactical limitations behind him resulting in him looking lost and completely ineffective a lot of the time. Even the second half after the subs came on we didn’t particularly improve. Fulham lost steam but even Son, Kulu and Maddison played a number of misplaced passes and couldn’t take hold of the game.

In general this was a tactical mess with too many limited players starting resulting in an off balanced line up that was easily shut down. The only time we maybe looked better in ether half was more down to our superior fitness then us playing better.

Sadly we are long on numbers and short on quality. We are so reliant on such a small number of players and the replacements are not only weaker but also poorly suited to a progressive game. A back four with Davies, Sanchez and Emerson combined with PEH and Skipp in midfield and Ange's style of football is hard work. These guys just aren’t suited and you might get away playing one or two at times, but not all five of these guys together.
