A tough run coming up now with regards to game-by-game comparison, as we won all of the next 3 last season (2-0 vs. Forest away, 2-0 vs. Everton at home and 1-0 vs. Brighton away). Not impossible to emulate with Forest and Brightons wobbly form at the moment, but will obviously be tough, especially Brighton away.

Bournemouth at home on new years eve should be a decent chance to add some points compared to our woeful 2-3 home defeat last season. Even if they're in red hot form at the moment.

We matched our 2-0 away win at Forest from last season to stick on 9 points up vs the same games. A win here vs Forest puts us a further 3 points ahead at the same stage in last season. This fixture correlates to our home loss to Villa last season.

Points difference vs same games: +9 points
Points difference after no. of games played: +3 points

Seven points better off in the same fixtures but also we have 33 points from the first 17 games compared with 30 from 17 last season. Taking it a step further we only got 33 points from our first 20 games last season so there is a chance to blitz that figure if we can keep this winning run going. We are progressing very well with Ange and his attacking philosophy.

Can I suggest that you add a running total column to the original post and that will stop you from needing to keep adding all your figures up each time.

I've got a spreadsheet that has it in, I had just put a wrong result in somewhere, all fixed now!

Apologies for the bump but can you update this please 😀
Not much has changed probably, Brighton away was a win last season and a loss this season, with Bournemouth at home being the opposite.

The next two PL-games yielded 0 points last season, so hopefully the points difference will look better at the end of this month.

Well, the points difference from same games is 4 better off after the United and Brentford games (both losses last season), so it now stands at +13.

Impressive.
We drew 1-1 away to Everton last season, so I believe the current state of play is:

Points difference vs same games: +13 points
(7 points needed from next 3 games to maintain that)

Points difference after no. of games played: +5 points
(6 points needed from next 3 games to maintain that)

@nicdic
Thanks for doing this.
5 points up on last year~ the difference is we are on the accent this year, while last year we had Conti going crazy and imploding.
Happy times
