If we're in the champs league when he is ready to return, we would be mad not to go for him and offer him whatever anyone else does. He would pay for his wage many times over IMO.

I think, if we had the chance to sign players like Ronaldo right now, we would pay them whatever they wanted, the problem is, they wouldn't join us even if we could meet what others were playing. Difference with Bale is that, all things being equal, I think he'd come back to us.

I'm probably being optimistic but, if we can't dream, what's the point.

If we got bought by trillionaires today, Bale wouldn't come back for at least a couple of years.
He's playing in front of 90,000 fans, alongside the best player in the world.
Money doesn't always matter.

Yes, I agree. That's why I said "when he's ready to come back". My guess is he will be happy there for a minimum of 5 more years - this gives us 5 years to get back into the champs league.

No he's not. He said this last year about a day after he moved. Ronaldo really does do it every other month.

It's because every time he does it someone throws money at him...

"Ronaldo is sad because of X and dreams of returning to Manchester"....results in the Mancs going mental for a week because "this time it has to be true for reasons "X,Y,Z" and don't forget Fergie was like a dad to Ronaldo". Then he gets a new sponsorship or contract and "has never wanted to leave Real but if he did United is the only place he would go". Story falls into nothing until it pops up again.

Rooney does the same thing every year...."Rooney feels he isn't getting the respect he deserves from United supporters and wants to leave."....then Manchester gives him a new contract and he is happy right up until he wants more money.

Hard to blame them for circulating the story all the time, everytime it happens they end up making more money. If i could get the same deal in my career i may consider doing it as well....however if i were to do it my boss would just say "good luck then".
