Also, with regards to marquee signings to launch the stadium - with Harry Kane the favourite to win the WC golden boot, no player in world football will carry as much marketing and publicity potential as him, especially if he wins it, with the possible exception of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Harry Kane is, quite frankly, a bigger name than Gareth Bale right now.

I guess realistically, if Bale leaves Real, where could he go, that would pay him something close to his current salary? PSG? (doubtful, 'cos of Neymar, Mbappe, FFP, etc). Bayern? (just can't see him wanting to play in that league). Man City? (just can't see him being open to moving there, even if it meant he could keep earning what he does). Man UTD (seems as though they are most likely to pull it off. can pay what he wants, what Real wants, and Bale is probably amenable to going there). Who else is there? I just can't think of anyone else who has that sort of financial backing to pull it off.

As much as I'd love him back at Spurs, I think at this point in time, he's probably more likely to stay at Real for this season.

Unless real want to swap for neymar.

Kit launch 16th July. Bales Birthday 16th July. Coincidence I think not. He’s coming home. :sneaky:

That's my missus' birthday, so.............................. one of two things will happen; I get laid or we re-sign Gareth.

We're re-signing Gareth.................YAAAAAAAAAAAY, happiness  :playful:

So is this dead now Ronaldo is off. Surely they wouldn't sell both.

Probably, however the £90m or so they are getting for Ronaldo will still leave them quite short on the price for Neymar or Mbappe, and they need other additions too. New CB coming in today and they are clearly looking at GKs (Alisson/Courtois). Wouldn't to surprise me to see Lewandowski rock up there too. All that isn't going to come cheap.

This is in respect of Bale staying more than us getting him.

Bale is one thing, but Ronaldo in Juve means theres one club less for Martial
Or potentially more depending on how things play out. If Bale and Ronaldo go Madrid will be in the market for a high profile AM signing (probably one of Neymar or Mbappe if PSG are in a bind). Whoever they buy from would have to get a replacement and so on. Maybe the top tier would not want target Martial but someone else caught in that whirlwind with a sudden influx of over the odds cash might.

Bayern if Lewandowski moves is a big one. Although they'll probably just mug off another top Bundesliga side instead.

And what does it mean for Dybala at Juve ... Could we maybe ... (?)

Hopefully Dybala will decide he plays in the same spaces as Ronaldo, and Juve isn't big enough for the two of them. :sneaky:

Icing on the cake would be if Mourinho follows up on his interest in Mandzukic. I swear he dreams of a central trio of Lukaku, Fellaini & Mario M.

Back to Bale, if Real are selling Ronaldo, then presumably they're buying Mbappe (most likely) or Neymar. So, Bale is still in the same situation of competing with the likes of Asensio, Benzema, Isco and the vastly overrated Lucas Vazquez for a starting spot.

If Bale and his family have set their hearts on returning to Blighty, then manure remains his likeliest destination, esp if they miss out on Ronaldo.
