The front page of tomorrow's Daily Star Sunday has the headline 'Gazza in intensive care after collapse'. Hope this is wrong :(

Greavsie talking about Gazza:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/jimmy-greaves-talks-about-paul-gascoigne-1646950

A very no-bullshit take by Greavsie and very sobering..Unfortunately I think he is right..Gazza doesn't seem to have anything in place in his life to pour some passion and positivity into, which he will need to beat this. Football seems to be all he had. Very sad.

Edit: Gazza in intensive care now according to some sources (if the Sun can be considered a source). Jesus..Hope he pulls through.

Hope he can turn his life around before it is too late, but I fear the point of no return has been reached and that he probably won't see 2014 in, hope to god I am wrong

Reported today that he is in intensive care after his organs started shutting down due togounv cold turkey.

Kinda suggests this isn't a recent relapse at all.

It's a horrible situation, on one hand you have a genius, a legend and you want him to recover, on the other hand you have someone who has had so many chances but seems so unwilling to help himself.

I pray to god that he sorts himself out and can take strength from all those who support him, but whilst he continues to surround himself with idiots, like his agent, I fear the worst.

He needs to go somewhere, a long way away, away from the public eye and to surround himself with people who actually care for him.

Get well Gazza #8

I just read the article from today and got rather tearful.
I was to young to see him play but from videos and the awe Spurs, and
football fans, hold him in I know how astounding a player he was.
Even though we may fight and argue on this site, disagree over whos the best
ITK and how much Bale is worth, I like to think that from Joe Lewis to our poorest
fan we are all 1 big THFC family and its a sad day when one of the most respected
members dies or ends up like Gazza.
We are share 1 passion that links us together, hell I'd even save DavidMatzdorf if I ever saw him
getting mugged or something.

Wilshere gets a lot of stick on these forums, but fairplay, he has put his hand in his pocket to help Gazza:

Granted, it's chump change to him, but still a decent thing to do.

Noble of him and others but at the end of the day money can only do so much, the only person that can truly help Gazza is Gazza himself by completing the treatment program and having the willpower to stay off the booze

Hope he can turn his life around but based on past performance am sceptical that he can

Reading these stories makes me extremely sad to think of not only what is happening now but to what may happen in the coming months. The man was my idol when I was growing up and is the reason I fell in love with football.

Get well soon Gazza, we are all right behind you

So sad.

Unless you have had experience yourself or have had to see someone else you know/love suffer from alcoholism you don't truly appreciate how damaging it can be and how difficult it is to fight.

I really hope he can turn it around but that interview with Jimmy Greaves above is unfortunately probably an accurate prediction of how this will end.
