Just seen Bleacher Report on Twitter say that Rennes had a 25% sell-on clause for Dembele when they sold him to Dortmund. So, they sold him to Dortmund for €11.5m, and are now getting c.€25m for the Dortmund sale to Barca.

I honestly didn't know sell-on clauses were that high. Or, perhaps it's unusual and Rennes just conducted the Dortmund negotiations very well.

I am not up to date on suitable replacements, but for now, I'd say no one. Keep the cash for a bit, wait for the market to calm down. Bus Conductor said that Keita has a clause for next season set at 45m, so that will be appealing if they still want him. They have Solanke who could be given a bigger role until someone else comes along.

The problem with keeping Coutinho is being left with a player who might resent the club for blocking his dream move. It's fine to say they are standing up to a bully, but they may end up disadvantaging themselves in the process.

They can still buy Keita next summer without needing to sell Coutinho this summer. So given that there are no great replacements, if they sell they just weaken their attack. I also think there's plenty of evidence that players don't drop their level just because they didn't get a move that they want. They have to keep playing well if they do want a move in the future. Plus Coutinho needs to play well to get in the Brazil world cup team.

Imo, Liverpool has a really good front 6 and there's no point in weakening that. What they need to do is sign one or two central defenders who can give them some solidity at the back. They don't need to sell Coutinho to do that.

Dembele is about as good a buy as Barca could have made under the circumstances, in terms of getting a player to play in that front 3 to replace Neymar. He'll score more goals at Barca because it's Barca, and he'll have Messi and Suarez and co but he can do everything, run with the ball, has pace, has vision, assists, can use both feet and is only 20yo and will get better.

Bilic under tremendous pressure to keep his job at West Ham even at this early stage. Sullivan and Gold are not two of the most patient of men when results start going wrong. Will he be the first Premiership managerial casualty this season ?

Glad Clucas has been picked up by Swansea, didn't see loads of him, but what I did see looked like he had promise and a good range of skills for CM.

Rumoured that Real Madrid's Asensio is to sign for The Woolwich (£75m release clause). I would love to see this guy in the Premiership...but with a Spurs shirt on not the red crap...he is a class act.

Doubtful they get him.

By all accounts Asensio's dream was to play for Real and he is getting playing time with them (38 appearances last year), and Zidane seems to like the kid. There are reports that Flo Perez is going to insert a release clause ranging from €335m (£310m) to €500m (£462m) in his contract extension.

Think they only thing Arsenal would succeed in doing by triggering the release clause would be to get the kid a raise.

Agree.

Asensio has been playing a lot and with great flair. The fans and Zidane love him.

Why would he leave Real Madrid, a coach who understands flair players and Champions League football for the disintegrating goons, a past it whinging coach and Thursday night football.

Another goon ploy?

"Look at us, we've bid for Mbappe and Asensio, we have ambition, buy a season ticket."
