No, he’s not overhyped imo. Obviously you have to take into consideration the league he plays in but he’s a seriously talented player. The only thing I’d say is long term I see him as a striker rather than a WF. He’s not a player I’d say we necessarily need even tho I’d love him here. Mudryk is more of a playmaker than Leao.

Mudryk is more raw than when Joao Felix joined Atleti. Its just nonsense to put a 70m price tag on him purely on talent. I think this is going to weigh him down in a under pressure Chelsea side. I cant see how he is going to hit the ground running in one of the competitive leagues.
I would vote him as a flop if he joins Chelsea. He has a better chance to be success to Arsenal given he can be slowly bedded in. But then, this is great for us. Let him rot at Chelsea and Arsenal not get the player they wanted

That’s insane money and contract for someone who’s not scored ten goals in his career and has only played in a decimated league.

What could go wrong.

Has anyone seen Mudryk play? Is he anything special? I don't know anything about him but the fee seems huge for someone who's only played in Ukraine.
I’ve seen him a number of times in the CL and watched a few of his league games on repeat and will say he looks like a serious talent. I get why clubs are going crazy about him. Physically and technically he’s absolutely perfect for the PL. I think at Arsenal he would have been an absolute revelation but at Chelsea I’m not so sure but that’s down to how much of a mess they are rather than anything about him.

To put it into context, he was the player I wanted most to succeed Son prior to this window.

I have a theory that Chelsea have 1.5 billion of a head start on their spending before FFP enters the thinking

Chelsea are surely getting close to FFP limits. Or are they just showing that there is no such thing as an FFP limit?
Someone will know better than me but think I recall reading somewhere that the way the takeover was framed basically gave them a virtual clean slate re FFP?

I pretty much echo some of this in my reply above. What I would say is, although yes for sure he’s more raw then Felix is now(and for the record I’d love both players here) one can’t ignore the fact he’s got 3 goals and 2 assist in the CL this season on top of his league preference s. He’s not one to shy away from the big occasion.

Unfortunately we live in the Neymar age where players with little to no experience go for 100’s of mil. I mean Felix cost Atletico 100 mil and he was incredible raw. It is the market unfortunately. RM just bought a 16 year old for €72 mil. That’s just ludicrous but they weren’t the only team sniffing. Fact is, if Mudryk makes good on his potential it will be considered money well spent. I don’t agree with it but it is what it is and Mudryk has certainly done more in the CL then a number of these wonder kids have even if it’s only a handful of performances.

So Chelsea are offering these absurdly long contracts to get around FFP?

Surely that's not sustainable. They're presumably offering these players silly wages to convince them to sign these massive deals - if even 50% of them go poorly good fucking luck getting rid of those players. And their squad was already pretty overstuffed with overpaid players to begin with...

Really hope this mental approach to the market fucks them royally in a couple years time.

Why though?!?! Arsenal absolutely wanted him. Chelsea have zero need for him. Football. ??‍♂️
Will start for them straight away, likely more money in wages and being realistic Chelsea are likely going to be the more successful club over the length of his career with the financial power they have

I feel a bit sorry for Graham Potter in all this. Just seems like a small child having endless expensive presents thrown at them by a demented father who then screams 'PLAY WITH ALL OF THEM YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!' Boehly really does seem like an absolute tool.

With Arsenal's luck this season the kid will be a massive flop and they'll sign a Kante type no one from ligue 1 who will win the m the league.

Ukrainian club taking Chelsea to the cleaners…?
I have to say though if I’m the player I certainly wouldn’t be wanting to go there, new ownership or not based on their previous ownership and what’s being chanted from the stands at the moment, I’d even pay for my own flight to sign for the goons.

7 year contract on mega money. No brainer

I've not seen the lad play, other than a quick YouTube search but looking at his stats all his league goals have come in a 5 weeks period from mid October to mid November. 2 of his 3 goals in the CL came home and away against Celtic. The other goal was away at RB Leipzig , as were his 2 assists. He didn't register either a goal or assist against Real Madrid. In the Nations League for Ukraine he didn't score a single goal or assist against the likes or Arminia, Ireland or Scotland. He looks like an exciting player and he's obviously still young but he hasn't produced anything on the big stage for either his club or country. Chelsea is an enormous step up for him and there's no certainty he'll be able to make it.

Arsenal was very clearly the move for him. By some distance. Not that he will certainly flop at Chelsea, but they are so much of a mess that i really can’t imagine it’s a good atmosphere for any developing player. As said, for Chelsea, Leao would have have been a dramatically better choice.I’m honestly shocked they didn’t go for him. Still I’m really glad Mudryk isn’t going to Arsenal as I think it would have been an excellent move for both parties.

What the fuck are we even doing anymore? Isn’t this going be like over £450m spent by Chelsea since the summer? I mean, it’s just absurd. And, I wish it were us. I just want a sugar daddy. Preferably one who has not committed any atrocities.

This is where I'm at. Modern football is a joke, there is no hope or future if you aren't capable of dropping a billion every 5 years.

I find it harder and harder to care about football seriously anymore.

Becomes more and more grotesque every season.
