I'm just pointing out there is precedent there for non European nations to play in European competitions. As we know with the football governing bodies money talks. Certainly wouldn't be putting my house on them not being able to join.

I'd also say that the more powerful they become and the more top named players that go there Uefa may well encourage them to join as it will further strengthen their brand.

I think what more than likely what will happen is the FIFA world club cup (or whatever it is called) that they are really pushing will be what they and the top European clubs involve themselves in. FIFA have wanted to set up a serious club competition to rival the Champions League for quite a while.

There's plenty of players like that who do work out though. We've been the beneficiary of several. Eriksen immediately comes to mind.

Yeah I mean Villa possibly getting him doesn't equate to him being bad, hence why I said it's not always that black and white but I was genuinely wondering if Villa seems his level or if they're going to have an incredibly good player on their hands if they sign him. I've never watched the guy but have heard a lot about him.

Personally think Villa are right up there with Newcastle as big clubs who are on the cusp. Thought they were on that road a couple years back but Steven Gerrard was so woefully bad it somewhat set them back. They don't have the potentially financial muscle of Newcastle that we've yet to see unleashed but they've got a very good manager and very good players and are a big club as is. Plus it's not as if they're skint.
