I get your point in theory, but that’s an odd comparison. Liverpool sold Coutinho (AM) and replaced him with VVD (CB) and Alisson (GK).
If we sold Kane and bought a high calibre striker that would be the opposite of what Liverpool did. They used the money to upgrade other areas of the team.
Would us replacing Kane with a young forward and ploughing the main money into someone like Tapsoba to cover an area of pressing need, not be a similar scenario to Liverpool ?
I dont think it is an odd comparison currently due to as things stand/been reported:

We are selling Kane and we are bringing in a young CB (VDV) with lots of potential but not one that is proven enough currently for anyone to feel confident he will improve our back line. Potentially 2 young CFs that have potential but nothing else currently.

If we go and get Tapsoba too I will be happy but he isnt at the level VVD was. Maddison is a great buy but the rest of the window so far is opportunistic buys (Soloman and Phillips and potentially Tosin if rumours are true) and players with potential but not proven (Vicario, VDV, Veliz).

Either way you look at it, we are gambling massively on players and Ange to get the best out of them. Lets all hope it pays off.

Yeah his record to date is Haaland like
Was afraid to say this myself, but he gives that kind of vibe.

Veliz and Orban could be our Alvarez and Haaland, of course not as good, at least not right away, and with Richarlison both of them could be eased into the team.

Perhaps in the middle of all the mess that is going on, a sensible continuation plan could be made.

I don't really know who we should buy if Kane leaves. Sure, there are some players with potential out there. But we are talking about 30 goals Even if some other players step up and score some more goals, we will need a striker that can score 20 goals in the league.

How would he get a work permit? Hasnt even played for Nigeria let alone be in Europe for a year.

Pretty please + look how much we're spending on him is, I believe, the usual combination in these situations.

Also looking at marcos leonardo as an alternative striker and silva at benfica (dc) apparently.
Marcos Leonardo looks miles better than this lad to me. Orban looks raw as hell to me, I think he would be absolutely miles off PL quality in his general play. Have to be honest I don’t like this link much. Anything more than the 20m euro’s would be too much of a risk IMO

You maybe right or maybe wrong. However, if you are wrong, I fully expect this to be one of the comments that is quoted and resurfaced lots in this forum for years to come. Hope that happens (and he’s playing for us)

I think it really depends in which scenario we bring him in. If it’s as Richy’s back up I think it would be a massive risk considering Richy’s injury record. I think when you’ve got a player playing at a level that is so much lower than the PL a good goal scoring record is not enough. Look at Charles DK at Milan for example, his all-round game looked miles in advance of this lad yet he’s struggled massively. The jump in level is massive. I think a 20m euro punt is fine but anything more than that and you’re taking risks for me, the Belgian league is a poor level compared to the PL

Work permit rules changed. We can add a number of players ineligible for work permits this year
How does that work? Surely he’d need a work permit to be allowed to work in this country?

Just as a comparison Victor Boniface also Nigerian and just left the Belgian League to goto Leverkusen for 17m euros after scoring 17 goals in 51 games for Union SG has scored twice in the first half against West Ham. Tapsoba also playing.

Gift Orban is a year younger and played in the same league and scored 3 goals more in 31 games less.

English clubs will be able to sign a specified number of players who do not meet the points requirements for work permits after the interior ministry approved new criteria for international player visas, the Football Association said on Wednesday.

Was looking at this yesterday, and I’m torn. Marcos Leonardo does look more polished technically, I really think he could be some player. Would love us to go in for him. But he’s very much a central poacher/finisher type by the looks of it. Price being bandied around yesterday looked fair, €15-17m. I’m sure the current Brazil No9 would be a plus point to him coming.
On the other hand, Orban looks far more raw, but had the extra explosiveness that you could see him getting minutes out wide, not just centrally.
I think both have huge potential (based solely on YouTube compilations), I’d be happy with one of those to back up Richarlison if we are allocating the Kane money to CB instead. Balance of the budget now I suppose. The likes of Muani are more advanced development wise, but equally more expensive.

For balance, Paul Onuachu was amongst the top scorers in the Belgian league for 3 seasons in a row, and then went to Southampton and did nothing (although tbf they were fucking wank).

Leonardo was my top choice but now we signed Veliz it does not make much sense.

You couldnt fit them in the same side as neither can operate wide or have good 1v1 offensive abilities.

From the games I’ve watched of him at Gent neither can Orban tbh, he does have the speed element but he doesn’t have the technique on the ball to be anything other than a CF imo. It would be a mistake to think of him as someone who could adapt to playing out wide for example. Muani is a very different player skill set wise for example.

If we signed Orban, I would imagine Son would be Richy's back up until he's been coached to perform in the system.

He's a punt there's no getting away from that, but one worth taking because of the contingencies in our squad.

The list of proven no.9s better than Son and Richy is very short.

Of those available now I'd say it's arguably ZERO.

So we're talking about getting in first on the next wave of elite prospects before the likes of Dortmund, Leipzig.

It's unsettling because we're loosing the best no.9 of our lifetime and possibly world football.

But I really think some version of a high ceiling versatile forward is our best move right now.

Build the whole team and squad again. Trust our 9s.

We have some amazing young talent coming through at all levels between ages 16 and 23.

It's going to be painful and it will take time, but at the end of it we're going to have a fantastic young attacking team again.
