“Rather than an established name, they would more likely have to go for a young player like Gent's Gift Orban, who Spurs have a strong interest in, and rely on Richarlison to score far more this season.”

I have to admit, this was my biggest worry.

Have to my arse. More evidence of Levy downgrading expectations, either by directly using Gold as a mouthpiece or wearing him down through years of experience like many of the rest of us.

Having said that, par for the course in the second tier (of EL contenders) where we are now at best for a CF to cost 60 and his cover 20 or so

The admission prices should reflect this

Surely sign him whatever and then either loan him or keep him depending on if Kane stays or not
Exactly, especially if the rumours of the fee being relatively low are true. All the evidence suggests the kid is going to explode, so whether he does that in our first team or out on loan thereby increasing his value, we'd be winning either way.

I think you are onto something. This wasn't a friendly, an actual league game. He also started their first league game and scored a goal, now all of a sudden not even getting playing time in matchday 2? Something is up.
Gent play Wednesday at home for the European Conference League so he could have been rested.
Matchday 2 was an away game and they played with 1 striker (Hugo Cuypers) who was the Jupiler League's top scorer last season with 27 goals (34 in all competitions).
Late on in the game another striker came on (Tissoudali) a Moroccan international who missed the World Cup because of a very bad injury and who is still strugling to find his previous form.
If Orban doesn't play on Wednesday ... it would be strange.

As mentioned by a few people, think of a raw Defoe .
I have seen quite a few matches of him and the main thing he does is receive the ball and shoot, as simple as that. Left foot, right foot , from everywhere on the pitch..
He has the talent to be on the right spot and strike the ball exceptionally well, he rarely misses the target.
In his first games he was ridiculously selfish but somehow he gets away with everything ( he is a naive and lovely kid) and he's slowly becoming more of a team player.
I think that this is very difficult for a scouting department to judge if he is good enough for the PL. He is not your obvious for everyone to see technical wonderkid but you can't deny that he scores goals for fun.

Norway looks like a very interesting hotspot for African talent.
Genk (not Gent) bought an 18 year old kid from Ghana (Bonsu Baah) this summer who only played 3 months in Norway for more than 5 million Euro right before the nose of Brighton who were prepared to pay a lot more.
Victor Boniface from Union SG came from the Norwegian League and was sold to Leverkusen after 1 year in Belgium.

Tottenham are considering stepping up interest in Gift Orban, the forward who scored 20 goals in 22 games in all competitions for Belgian club Gent last season.

It makes sense, as it appears that he can also play across the front 3. Now is the time to get him, before he has another terrific season, and his price triples. I’d even be fine if it meant loaning him back to Gent for the season.
I think a buy and loan back transfer is ideal for his development should Kane stay and also appeal very much to Gent who might be more obliging on the fee.

I'd still love us to bring this kid in if possible even if Kane stays. We would then have several very talented young attackers in and around the squad which will make things much easier for us when Kane finally leaves, gets injured, or retires/becomes unable to play every game. Good strikers are extremely hard to come by.

Would find it a little strange if we got him if Kane stays. We already bought one striker prospect and surely at this point any spare money we have should be going to another CD. Also, if anything I’d think a young WF would make more sense rather then a 4th CF. Still, we obviously rate him and he looks a talent.

He needs a step up, much like Veliz. If anything Veliz is the more experienced of the two. If we were to get Orban a loan to top 4/5 league would make a lot more sense. Somewhere like France or Italy. We and him won’t gain anything from loaning him back to Gent.

It didn't do Mitoma and Caicedo much harm albeit I will contradict myself as they came directly from South America and Japan as opposed to Orban who's already in situ.

I certainly think finding a club willing to take him won't be an issue whatsoever but I was thinking more along the notion that by loaning him back to Gent we know he will play (and European football too) plus can be more amiable when we negotiate.

Also, we suck in finding good loan moves so not sure I trust us to do so here outside on Gent but maybe we have more of a clear pathway plan than we've ever had in recent years under previous regimes.

Personally, I'd sign him up, loan him back for this season. We'd have some succession planning in place in case Kane leaves next summer. If Kane stays, we can look to offload Richy if he has another poor season. Kinda makes sense to me that!

I wonder how Scarlett would fare in Belgium, and indeed how he compares to Orban. You'd assume our scouting/data teams would know, but in the event we did bring in Orban and wanted to keep him at the club, I think sending Scarlett there on loan as part of the deal could be a good thing for all concerned.

The Jupiler Pro League is just not strong enough imo. I watch it quite often as my in laws are Belgian/live in Brussels and will often catch games when I visit. The level is just not good enough and he needs a higher level of competition if he’s going to develop. A handful of European games is not going to cut imo. Sure if there are no other teams out there that want him, but there’s also a chance that Gent would prefer to move on as well rather than loan him back. Imo it wouldn’t make any sense to send him back if we were to buy him.

If we're signing Gift Orban I hope we get it wrapped up soon.

After all be is one for the present.
Would be a shame if he ended up not as described and we had to return him. Though Levy definitely strikes me as a chap who keeps all his receipts.

I stand corrected then mate.

Just hope if we do loan him out it's to a side that would adopt a similar style to ours - I mean it could even be in the Premier League so somewhere like Bournemouth under Iraola but then questionable how much valuable game time he'd actually face. Perhaps Leicester under Enzo Maresca if he'll look to adopt Man City-lite at the King Power?

I would like to think we could find him a good loan somewhere in the top 5 leagues. A lot of clubs are significantly strapped for cash and many play more attacking football these days. Time will tell I guess but I just think he would benefit from tougher opposition and tougher league.
