Wish Levy would get his wallet out and get this guy. Looks a good player and could be out of reach for us if he has a good season.

Admittedly there may well be more space in the Belgian league, but what I see in him is a player able to find half a yard and get a quick shot off, on target, with pace/power. Defoe’esque almost, minimal backlift. If you watch the highlight reel of Furuhashi at Celtic to see how he was utilised in Ange’s system, most of his goals are very similar, ghost into space between defenders, shoot.

Yeah he does look very raw but there's something about him that stands even if it's in sub-par leagues. At the end of the day there are risk/reward elements with all players. Personally I'm more intrigued by a player in the ilk of Orban rather than say Vlahovic.

Is it expensive for David? He scored 24 in 37 last season. Like I said I have questions with him and I’m not sold but I’d 100% expect him to be valued at around that if not more.
24 in 37 last season but 10 of them were penalties. In 2023 15 goals but 7 of them were penalties. It's another season when his form dips massively when there are serious talk about his transfer from Lille:ROFLMAO: He's good, but wouldn't say he's worth 60m, more like 40m considering that's how much Wahi and Openda went and they had better season than him. Lille would ideally sell him this transfer window but no one is interested in that price

Surely we're at the stage that he is either good enough or isn't

From what you describe he doesn't sound good enough full stop , nevermind the price tag.

Chukwuemeka 6 week injury.

Chelsea will take him from under our noses no doubt.
Doubtful, even they must realise you can't just keep replacing player with short term injuries with new players on 8 year contracts - they can't be that dumb (note: yeah, they probably are that dumb).

plays as a forward, and they were after another forward anyway.......
They may well buy him (I don't think they will) but I can't see Chukwuemeka having any bearing on the situation as they are completely different players

I am not one for saying just get this done, I'm sure we have our reasons for not pulling the trigger but I have to say I don't know why we are hanging about.
I guess it could be about clearing the decks but that doesn't make sense to me if we are going to do it anyway so maybe it is the possibility of a more experienced striker but I'm puzzled.
My guess is that we're now at the point that we might as well wait it out until deadline day and see if any more opportunistic signings become available. Not to say that we should be doing any Levy specials, but it feels like there could be some possible player opportunities arise towards the end of the window that might not be so easily obtainable right now. Given that it makes sense to give Richi another run out or two then I reckon this is likely the strategy we're going with now, with the possibility that if we need to move quickly to secure Orban or someone we've already started negotiations with then we can do so in the meantime.

I believe it could be about clearing the decks. I think who we get for the forward position is dependent on who goes and whether we need to buy homegrown. Whilst Orban won't need to be registered, we may still need one more HG and decide to go for Johnson of Forest instead to fill the quota. If that's the case, I doubt we buy both him and Orban.

We need to move away from this strategy. Deadline day has probably worked once for us.

Surely we're paying our scouts to scour the markets and not just see what arrives in the inbox on Deadline day.

Appreciate we might be waiting to shift some players but knowing we were gonna sell kane this window we should be further along in replacing him with a specific player or group of players we've had in mind for a year or more.

It might be early to judge richarlison as a 9 but the early signs don't fill me with confidence and that is a pivotal position if you look at what the Celtic lad did last year in the treble team.
