Tottenham playmaker Giovani dos Santos hopes to return to first-team action in one week.
The Mexico star, a summer signing of former Spurs boss Juande Ramos, has been sidelined since October after suffering an ankle injury.
But he has returned to light training and is eager to prove his capabilities to new manager Harry Redknapp.
"I have almost recovered from the ankle injury that I suffered in training," Giovani said in the Sunday Mirror.
"I have already started light training and am running on the training field. I will hopefully be able to join in with the team again in one week and hope to have a good end to the season.

Thought I'd see him on the bench at least quite soon, will bring some much needed balance to the team

Definitely another option for Bentley or to come on for Modric.

I'm sure as soon as he's available he'll be involved, even if it is just sub appearances.

Let's just say that he and modric are the only two midfielders who has very good awareness, vision and speed of thought.

The guy can cross as well as bentley and can actually go past player

He always just seemed to run straight into the opposition players and lose the ball rather than beat them. From the few games he's played this season, he's looked pretty poor, but I'm still hopeful he can show his worth eventually when he's fit.

i never actually seen him play when he was fit was he all that good?

Comfortable on the ball and plays with a smile on his face .

Very one footed .

Too early to say whether he is any good and still developing .

Don't think we should be trying to integrate lightweight kids during a relegation battle . Give him a few cup matches .

He is my great hope for the future. Criminally underrated on these boards.

I think he's overrated just because he used to play for Barca. I was one of the people who was ridiculously over the top excited when we got him, but apart from pre-season when all the players looked good, he's looked average at best. I'm still hopeful he can become a good player for us, but from what I've seen of him for us this season, he's far from that at the moment.

Can't see this lad making much difference to our season, but he may come good in time if he does not get impatient at the lack of the first team football he was doubtless promised by Comolli to lure him here.

He'll do a better job on the left wing than anyone else has so far this season. I cant wait to see him back, and hopefully in a team returning to form. We really need to bounce back from this temporary glitch. If we can do that, then i think Giovani will shine sooner rather than later.

He only played during the Ramos era and during that time i dont think any of our players put in decent performances.

Not saying hes going to make a massive difference i just think we should give him a chance first. I really cant see him doing any worse than some of our players are now and one thing about him which alot of our players dont have is enthusiasm and drive.
