About time. They use it in almost every other sport to great effect.

Let's face it, sometimes the refs are just not in a good position to see an (apparently) obvious goal, so why not use a proven technology that has been used in other sports (most notably ice hockey in America) for ages?

Makes sense to me.

I may be in the minority here but I've been opposed to this from the beginning. This takes away a major piece of entertainment in football, namely the element of chance. Which priceless source of talking points under/after a game will you decide to get rid of next?

I see what you're saying and would hate to have all the refs decisions made by tech, but think the goal line tech is a good thing. Only other thing I'd like to see is the FA take away that silly rule of no retro punishment if the ref gives a card and let the refs come out and explain their decisions after games if they want to

The douchebags on ITV were saying that there's trials of Hawkeye (or something similar) in the Dutch league, which will eventually be used for offside decisions.
I think it's great that the black/white decisions will be done using technology.

The referee system also needs updating too, there's definitely something rotten with the system, and having one man hold all the power, it's far too open to corruption

I don't mind the goal -line tech as it's instantly received on the ref's watch and doesn't need to be reviewed by a 4th official or anything like that. Regarding the offside system being tested in holland, I hope it would only be used for when a goal was scored from a close off-side decision and not at every single time a player is off as thw flow of the game needs to remain.

This has been a great addition to football. The decision for Vardys 3rd goal today was brilliant.

Its amazing it took so long. Never again will a team have to suffer what we did at Old Trafford.

Not sure that it's extended use in the Club World Championship is going so well.

What's happened?

Remember when it was first used at the world cup and Jonathan Pearce got his knickers in a twist because he didn't understand what had happened?

Jonathan Pearce should stick to Robot Wars and not allowed anywhere near a football commentary booth...

What was the question again?

They're using it for other things now like offsides, and they called to use it for Ronaldo's goal yesterday and then couldn't access the video (or changed their mind or something).

Either way it disrupted the game which is the main concern with the use of video technology.

The goal-line technology is brilliant, but I remain to be convinced about anything more than that during the game.
