I just wanted to gauge opinion on this...a good friend of mine is an Everton fan and is getting married next March. His stag do is in Liverpool and is more than likely going to be on the weekend of 1st March. Everton are at home to West Ham, we are at home to Cardiff.
Now, the groom wants all those attending the stag do to go to the Everton v West Ham match.

In the party of ten that are going on the stag do, the groom, as previously mentioned, is an Everton fan, one of the ushers is a West Ham fan, another of the ushers is a gooner, I'm an usher (obviously Tottenham, hence why I'm posting here), one of the best men is Tottenham, we have another Tottenham fan, another gooner, a Leeds fan and the others don't really care too much for football.

The groom and the West Ham fan will be more than happy to go to the game, but as for the rest of us...not really too keen.

I just wanted to see if other people would go to the game if it was one of their best mate's stag do? There are arguments for (well, only one really - it's your mate) and against (don't support either team, cost of going to football, it'll be cold and wet as it's up north, etc.).

Personally, if it were my stag do I wouldn't suggest going to a football match as the cost of going to a game doesn't just include the £40 for a ticket and there are better things to be doing.

Let me have your opinions, it's just through curiosity really (hope I got the right category, general football)

I'd go, no question - it's not often i'd get the opportunity to go to any away ground outside of London so why miss out? Neutrality is still an option, just enjoy the game. If the majority say no then, shame, but it really is the grooms choice how he spends his day so, if you can afford it, i'd say why not rather than why.

I'd go and just watch the match as a (sort of) neutral. Treat it as all part of the Stag festivities.

I've never really had a problem going to matches involving teams other than Spurs.
I take my kids to MK Dons when they have offers on.
I've been to Millwall twice, including the JP Trophy final against Wigan.
Been to Liverpool for a UEFA Cup match against PSG
Watched a fair few Watford games in my time too.
Worst confession to make is that I went to see Arsenal v Fiorentina at Wembley in the CL..... Batistuta scored last minute winner and I was the only English person to leave that stadium with a grin on their face.

Just go as a complete neutral, may be a decent game!

I'd go, could be a laugh - atmosphere is normally good at Goodison and you can boo the spammers.

I used to go and watch Exeter City when I was at uni there and it's actually more of a pleasant experience than watching Spurs because I was less emotionally involved with it all!

A few of mates (One Leeds, one Newcastle and one Preston) came with me to the Lane to watch a match against Blackburn a few seasons back.

We were down in London on a weekender and I managed to get a few tickets. They enjoyed it!

I'd go to a match with any one of my mates (thankfully none of them support Arsenal/Chelsea/West Ham)

What are the other options- go karting/ paintball most likely? Both will cost about the same as the football and probably no more or less entertaining. As others have said it's always fun going to other teams grounds, plus you get to boo West Ham for an extra game this season. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I enjoy watching other teams. Been to Villa a few times and plenty of lower league teams. Don't see anything wrong with it. I just put a few bets on and enjoy the game.

Don't see why it would be an issue apart from the money side of things, but then you have to expect to fork out a bit for your mates wedding.

Same advice as if your stag party were to visit a brothel.

"By all means dally, young man. But woe betide you if you fall in love."

Cheers for the responses...I probably will go to the football, just think that there are better things to do (a day at the races would be way better) also I know that throughout the game my mind will be at WHL as we're playing Cardiff the same time

Everton are ok, no problem watching them at all.

I would draw the line at sitting with supporters whose happiness/joy I would find offensive, in case they won and expressed said emotions. Arsenal, chelsea etc.

Yeh go, will be a laugh hopefully watching west ham get spanked and seeing the Everton fans ripping pikey Caroll at the same time. You all then get to rip your West Ham mate as well:)

I know a few Palace who have gone Crawley and I might even go to a Brighton game or two next year. Nothing wrong with going as a neutral (who dislikes West Ham).
