I wonder if we tried to negotiate a first option buy back like Arsenal did with Fabregas?

They seem pretty worthless to me - If the player wants to move to another team for higher wages or greater potential to win things you simply won't be able to agree personal terms with him and he'll hold out til he can speak to the club he wants

Agree and if Bale comes back to England in the next 5 years it won't be to Tottenham.

Biggest *sigh* ever.

The blinkered naivety amongst those slamming bale for 'faking injury' etc. is incredible. Do you not think there was perhaps a chance that he was instructed to not speak and not expose himself to potential injury, by playing?

Bale gave us arguably the greatest and consistently most exciting season by a Spurs player in the modern era. He is one of the best players playing the game at the moment. We are not one of Europe's elite; he is...it really isn't rocket science.

Dry your eyes. I for one will enjoy watching Madrid even more next season and wish him all the best. I hope he tears La Liga up.

Spurs boss Villas-Boas conceded it was the will of the player which proved decisive.
Speaking after a meeting of top coaches at UEFA headquarters in Switzerland, the Portuguese told The Telegraph: "The pressure we were subjected to by the player has been intense.

"The influence of Real Madrid has been very big and you get to a point where you have to consider if it's feasible not to accept an offer and whether you can press on with a player in that state of mind.
"Obviously, we should be happy with the transfer fee that was paid. Players want to win championships and I believe that with Gareth that is within reach.
"At the end of the day, it's up to a player to decide if he wants to stay or wants to go."

He says it was really stressful waiting for the move to RM. Bloody hell these footballers dont know the meaning of stress.

How stressful would you be if you couldn't find your winning Euromillions jackpot lottery ticket and the deadline for cashing it in was running out very fast?;)

No good luck from me, after the way he has spat in the faces of the fans and the club who made him the player he is I hope he embarrasses himself big time out there, squeals to the media about how hellish his life is out there and he has a Campbell style mental meltdown at half time v Barca

Bit of agro in there methinks...

Is it me or does it still seem really surreal seeing Gareth there, right in the middle of all this limelight. I know he's superb and grabbed the headlines last season, but I still see him as that awkward young lad who came to us and we brought on; always softly spoken, always just getting on with it. I can hardly connect that video above to him playing with us anymore. Bizzare.

Also Modric to the side of the frame...

Showing Ronaldo up as soon as he joins. Nice one Gaz! (y) Can also see a strong Spurs bond with Modric helping him to settle with ease.

Now the window has shut, I want him to do well and show the world what we all know he's capable of.

Ha hilarious. Made Ronaldo look stupid. Can't imagine Ronnie liked that much.
