I liked the call. Mascherano was talking the whole match. And he completely disrespected Bennet earlier when he got the yellow card. He was pretty much asking for a red card.

Mascherano's got a habit of being in referee's faces and he was just asking for it. The first booking for the foul was harsh though.

Let's hope this is not just a knee jerk from refs after A. Cole and they will continue clamping down on dissent.

Steve Bennett, incidentally, has been singled out by Keith Hackett as he was fourth official on Wednesday at the Lane http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2008/03/23/sfngue123.xml and guess what? Hackett is at Old Trafford today watching Bennett.

That's karma for Cashley I hope. We take two points off their title challenge and Man U go on to win today.

Haha, Redknapp & Gray getting heated on Sky. First time i've seen Redknapp get a bit of a strop on when Richard Keys tried to say something and Redknapp stopped him in his tracks and carried on with what he was saying.

By the way, what Mascherano did was not dissent. Unless he said something out of line, asking the ref about a decision isn't really a bookable offence. Yeah he was a twat cos he was already on a yellow, but that 2nd yellow is totally due to Ashley Cole's ****iness.

They should just make it captain's only speak to the ref, like they were supposed to.

I honestly think it was the fact that Mascherano had questioned nearly every decision the ref had given against Liverpool in the match and I do believe persistant dissent in the rules of the game can be punished by a yellow card.

I think he was getting pissed off because Gray kept interrupting him after Redknapp had listened to what he had to say... No surprise in that Gray was talking shit about sanitising the game and Redknapp was making sense...

I think sending Mascherano off was a bit harsh, and Bennett certainly did it with Wednesday in mind, but on the other hand, having just seen Torres get booked for dissent, what was Mascherano expecting to happen?

Lack of common sense on the parts of both Bennett and Mascherano...

Agreed. He repeatedly told him to fuck off before that.

It bugged me when Andy Gray said that treating dissent that way would take the passion out of the game. What bollocks. It would take petulance & childishness out of the game - if the way you show passion is by running round like a spoilt child then you need a kick up the arse.

The first word and easiest to learn in any foreign language is the 4 letter variety.

Anyway that's put paid to Liverpool's chances of the Premiership. The loser in the Chelscum/ Arse game will also be out of it.

1-0 Scum. Cudicini? No thanks.

The grass isn't always greener when it comes to other goalkeepers.
