The legend that is Pat Jennings, the man with hands the size of dinner plates and an icon of the Spurs goalmouth, is 70 today.

I hope he is having a superb birthday with many more to follow.

Pat was one of my heroes when I was a nipper and the reason for a while I couldn't hate that lot he went to.

Happy birthday to a gent and a true Spurs legend.

The primary reason I'm a Spurs fan and not a spammer.
For years he was my footballing hero and was broken hearted when he signed for that lot up the road. I only every saw him play for us once. A 3-1 home defeat to yanited during relegation year.

Was at Anfield that day Jennings saved 2 penalties. Was with my Dad who knew a tout that was mates with Emelyn Hughes. Ended up in the dressing rooms before the game. When I met Ray Clemence and shook his hand my dad said this is the 2nd best keeper in the country....

Great keeper was Big Pat, Happy Birthday

As I said on many occasions Pat plays golf at Brickendon Golf Course near the southern end of Hertford.

He often calls in to the Brickendon Lane sub Post Office for his bits n bobs. He actually cut the ribbon there about a month ago after a refurb.

I was in there about 4.45 today and asked the owner who I have known for twenty plus years if he had seen Pat today and he confirmed he was in the shop earlier.

I told Mac the owner that it was Pat's 70th and he was amazed. I also told him that it is 50 years ago this year that I first saw him play at WHL.

Even more amazed !

Seen them all from the days of Ted Ditchburn.
We have had some really great keepers. Amongst some duffers too. But Pat is head and shoulders above them all.
My take on our best keepers in the last 60years is:-
Big Pat
Ted Ditchburn
Lloris
Bill Brown
Ray Clemence.
