With Defoe and Adebayor linking so well and scoring goals is there a place for VDV? Does he go to right mid which is not his natural position ahead of Lennon or should he be dropped to the bench? Also, Sandro has tweeted that he may play on Tuesday, so how will we accomodate him in weeks to come? Maybe we could go 4-5-1 with Defoe dropping out and Sandro coming in? I think Defoe deserves to keep his place at the moment though! Then we have Gallas to come in as well, although i think he and King will be rotated so i dont see that as a massive issue for Harry.

Will be interesting to see how he lines up over the next couple of weeks

Defoe got a goal but I thought he was still incredibly frustrating with his general play.

thats what i said Kaz - just not sure how we re gonna do it. We look so much better with 4-4-2 imo but if Sandro is to come in then we re gonna have to change it unless Parker drops out which i do not think will happen for a minute

I dont see it as a problem. VdV will be a RM on paper but will most definately spend most of his time in a more central role. If I was harry I would just give him the freedom to float around and link up play (IMO what he's best at), with Walker coming forward to give us width. Its all dependant on whos fit of course. I think if corluka players then I'd have Lennon at RM - they seem to have a fairly decent understanding both tracking back and going forward. This in turn means that Defoe gets dropped and VdV takes his place.

Although JD took his goal well he still looks as though he's having to work very hard.

1) That's what wobbly-face is paid for

2) ATM, VDV on the right over Kranks (sorry Kranks-Lovers ), as Lennon is injured...but don't really like VDV on the right.

you think? I would say on paper he would be down as a traditional no10 playing off a front man, or as part of a 5 man midfield. IMO his career to date hasnt been as good as it could have been due to being quite tricky to fit him into all teams.

I would play VDV over Niko as well, but not sure if i would over Lennon. Lennon is much better defensively and when on form is stunning

we are much better with 4-4-2. ade was linking things. and defoe was playing on the shoulder of the last defender where he is much more effective

Not really. Defoe's still crap and the obvious weak link in the side. He hinders our clever link-up play and forces Adebayor to play too deep.

He's off to the bench as soon as Lennon and/or Sandro are fit.

:hump:
VDV on the right is, at least, feasible with Walker in the side, but Lennon offers so much cover for the full-back, something that often isn't recognised.
And, yeet, we are having this conversation because when not on form Lennon is hesitant and his decision making is truly appalling, at times.

i totally agree. Before today i thought Adebayor would play on the last man but he clearly likes to link up play which wouldnt be the case if we went 4-5-1. Does anyone who has seen him play regularly know if he has ever played as the "target man"?

And what about when both are fit? Plus VDV fully fit as well. Its very easy to say Defoe will go out, but there are 3 top players to come in

i'd drop defoe for VdV in a heartbeat, can't wait till he's back to his best with adebayor alongside him. defoe would be a good option from the bench.

The flaw in your reasoning is that Defoe doesn't really work from the bench, as he's a confidence player, and, also, he has made it clear that he doesn't like not starting.

But Ade should be playing on the last defender and vdV linking things. Then we don't carry a 12-touches-a-game passenger.

we haven't been playing a real 4-4-2 all season, what i just saw definitely wasnt a 4-4-2, Niko and Raf were all over the place, in the middle, up front, on the left and on the right

and ade was all over the place, and luka wasnt really fixed to the middle like parker, bale was poping up in the middle often too. when it works it looks very fluid what ever it is
