Next England game isn't till end of March right? I think a call up is fine, and the press attention is because he's doing well. If you want the press to go away, then we need him to stop performing.

its a tricky one, if he got no press attention we'd all claim he was being over-looked and underrated.

England is a funny one, we should want all our players in that squad but its a bit toxic and it really is a no win situation at the moment, England play and win...we are expected to, please and lose/draw whole squad gets slated. :-\ meh

Kane seems like the kind of player who really loves pressure and wants to drive on and do better irregardless of the attention. I think he would probably thrive if he was selected for England.

It may be the making of him

I agree I'd rather he not be called up because I also fear it may have a negative impact on him, brighter spotlight, extra work load and potential to destroy his confidence if things don;t go well but equally it may further enhance his development and make him a better striker
Indeed. I'm just going by the percentages. We've had more than one player in the last few seasons adversely affected by the England experience. Plus I couldn't personally give two solitary specks of shit about Ingerlund. But yes, in his case it could be a positive. Well just have to wait and see. I hope for his sake he does keep performing well enough to get the chance.

It will also be great for THFC of course.

As long as he plays for the u21s in the summer I don't mind an England call up. We need to take as strong a team as possible for the u21s to hopefully build a winning mentality. Plenty of time for him to make his mark on the senior side.

Agreed. We could easily have one of the best teams at that tournament.

In theory, this team is eligible:

Butland

Shaw
Stones
Dier
Chambers

Wilshere
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Barkley

Sterling
Kane
Berahino

Yep good team and we have spent too long ignoring the u21s whilst the other nations use it to their advantage.

Spain play their strongest team IIRC, we should as well.

Only 71 rated. But Kane doesn't play within a rating, he's his own man.

don't see why the DM are so keen to prove he played for arsenal as a little kid. doesn't mean anything apart from the fact that it again shows wenger incompetence in letting yet another young talent slip through his fingers

TBF though, it shits on the rumor that Kane was at Arsenal until 16 and instead shows he was at Arsenal for 1 year at the age of 8.

I understand your point but for England's development, that is the worst thing they can do!

People keep pointing at Germany and Spain fielding strong teams but none of their players were in the National team set up bar 3 or 4 caps. The U21 tournament helped develop them in to the players they are
Spain play their strongest team IIRC, we should as well.
No they didn't, a myth portrayed by the english media
Phil Jones could play as well.
He shouldn't be in the team either

This is a totally pointless exercise and would help the development of england. It would also be a kick in the teeth for the people who got england there.

Spain and Germany didn't play their best teams, they played players who weren't first team players to help them to get to the quality of the national team

That's a bit harsh haha, I highly doubt Wenger is involved in hand picking and monitoring the progress of the under 8s at Arsenal. And don't anyone make any 'actually he loves watching kids' replies to this :shifty:
