Berbatov, Bale, Modric didn't sink to these levels. The way he has behaved is a disgrace

Modders didnt for sure.... bale at the time was a WORLD record fee had agreement with Levy atleast gentleman's one and he really was up tere just under Ronny and Messi at the time and no one could begrudge him going to Real practically one of the best 2 clubs in the world at the time .... Berba similar had a gentleman's with levy (reported anyway) that hurt more in a way due to the last minute timing of it , no replacement (campbell dont count as a replacement) and robbie going aswell

On one hand, I'd love him to stay and help us get top 4, then if he still wants out we can sell and offer CL to potential signings.

On the other, he's never going to be worth more than he is right now, he could stay and have a shit year (would be unlikely) or get injured again (less unlikely) and then we're selling for a lot less with 24 months left on his deal. The money could really strengthen us in weak areas, giving Nuno a more well-rounded starting 11, but could it make up for the Kane shaped hole?

Either way it looks incredibly slim that he'll be a one club man and break all the records with us:cry:

and since that's not happening, I'm fine with whatever outcome eventuates.

I think the new bit is "the feeling in our camp is they will pay it"
Build a massive new state of the art stadium, which for years has been spoken about as game changing for us, then sell Kane. I know it’s not all on the club and circumstances in the world have been difficult. But even so it sends out a terrible message.

Yeah lots of players can earn medals and I understand he wants that, but he also had/has the chance to be an all time bonafide legend for Spurs, the all time club scorer and like Totti was for Roma.

The sad thing there is no good scenario for us with him leaving, people saying we get the money reinvest and get better, I think they are going to be in for a rude awakening, it sounds promising with the new director of football, but he hasn’t proven anything yet, neither have any of the likely new signings. Playing in the premier league is a totally different kettle of fish. We have a long history of pissing money away on shit. Kane’s goals are going to be hard to replace, I think the likelihood of champions league football is non existent in the coming years without him, his goals give us our best shot, so keeping him and the potential money it would bring means I would hold him to his contract.
You could well be right - Paratici's signings might not come off and we might find it impossible to replace Kane's goals.

But the thing is, the future you're describing is already here. We haven't seriously challenged for CL for the past 2 seasons WITH Harry. It's no good having Kane if the defence is a joke and the squad is imbalanced.

There's no denying Kane is irreplaceable, but so were Bale, Modric and Berbatov and ultimately we always ended up better off after they left (despite some initial wobbles).

I don't think it's a given that we succeed without Kane, but given we're already failing with him in the squad, I'm not convinced things can actually get much worse, especially if Paratici spends well.

Honestly hope he goes. How horrible is all this speculation, I don't want a season where our best player wants out and it is discussed every game and in the papers every week.

As others have said, the moment there was serious interest he wants out and IMO he has not handled this well. I just hope it is made clear he will not be coming back for a retirement tour. We need to respect ourselves and act like a big club.

The only player from City I have any interest in is Laporte. Do not expect him to fancy the move though. Let's get Vlahovic and Ings and build a team again, more importantly let's have a team playing for the badge on the front not the name on the back.

Harry would definitely leave England for France if he could. Bet he is searching for long lost chateaux owners in his family as we speak

On a more serious note, I hope I’m not alone in really hoping he doesn’t get Shearers record. I mean, I really, really hope he doesn’t

I think it makes sense now why we got Nuno as manager and not a bigger name. The key question on Kane…we would have told candidates that he’s gone if the asking price is reached and I think that put the biggest names off. Taking over Spurs minus Kane makes us far less realistic challengers for any silverware.

Yes and even if we sell Kane and have a pot of money. We are a far less attractive opposition to come and play for for a top player. So going to be hard to replace and add top players

Agreed. I strongly think we should be going out and getting Danny Ings in. With a year left on his contract could Southampton turn down £30m? He's the best striker available with premier League experience and likely to join.

Yep. I think if Kane goes he is a must. He’d get 20 league goals in our team. Not as many as Kane but he’s a good striker. If we have a better defence we hopefully won’t need to score as many anyway.

Not interested in any players plus cash deals. If he goes and it’s still a big if, cash only and all of it in one lump. And get it done this week if not don’t bother pursuing it. We hold nearly all the cards here, let’s make sure we play them wisely….

Wow. I have seen some aggressive, caustic responses on SC over the years, but this is beyond the pale. It’s mean and patronizing. You have interpreted their comment as passive aggressive and assumed their intent was to use conciliatory language to obfuscate their true intent, which was to take you to task. I don’t really understand this level of anger and unkindness. I find it wholly abusive and completely unnecessary. I have no idea why you would choose to speak to someone like that, who went out of their way to be politely critical, without punching under the belt.

That said, intent can be misinterpreted online. Maybe you didn’t mean this to sound the way it did to me, at least. Or, maybe you did. Lord knows I’ve been the ire of one of your oratory lashings. Hence why I have you in the ignore list. But felt a need to say something when I saw this. Just doesn’t feel like it is in the spirit of being at least a slightly respectful community of fellow Spurs supporters.

Right… back to Harry Kane… hope he stays, but for the first time since the end of the season, I’m starting to come around to the idea that he is leaving and I’m very, very bummed. Just hope we take City to the cleaners.

When anyone replies to David i always need to bust out the dictionary.

It was exactly the same if not even worse with the afore mentioned players. Don't fall for everything you read in the media and what posters on here say..... see it for what it is. Harry Kane has told us for years... as long as the club ambitions matches his he is happy here.... he has given us 7 yrs and we've come close and went backwards. he has a finite playing career and wants trophies.. we aren't remotely close to that.

It's gonna hurt like he'll seeing him playing elsewhere but I've made peace with it.... I think (n)

I thought the general stance was always if we got an offer of £200 million, it would be considered? What’s changed overnight? The story that Kane has had a chat with Levy and that a bid from an unnamed club is imminent? Are we now expecting City to drop £100 million on Grealish and then £200 million on Kane? I don’t think so.

I really don’t get all this Ings to replace Kane stuff…..he’s out injured far too much for me…I don’t doubt his ability just don’t think we’d get to see much of it.
