This is an interesting one because with Harry having 3 years left we hold all the cards BUT its a fine balance because if he's really had his head turned and wants out then if :
Scenario 1 is Levy holds out for say £175m straight cash and City don't pay up then we are left with a very good but unsettled key player.
Scenario 2 being we do negotiate a bit and settle for say £130-150m cash or £120m + a player then we get a good chunk of cash for the re-build and possibly a good player and we've moved on a player who will be having a negative influence on the dressing room.
I see why Levy is holding a strong stance but I think it is important to take all factors into consideration with any decision and negotiation etc rather than just being stubborn and saying I want x amount or no deal, ironically what you need to do is what Levy said in his interview is "we will do what is best for the club".
At this point I'd still rather we sold and looked to just negotiate a fair price and get it sorted asap.
Once the window closes, if Kane is still with us, however sulky and disruptive he is being now, he will be 100% all season. The reason? Well, there are multiple:
- It is a World Cup year. He will know England have a great chance of winning the tournament and he will not just not want to lose his place in the team, he will also not want to lose the captaincy. Imagine having to watch Henderson lift the WC whilst you are stood clapping?
- He wants to break Rooney's England scoring record, and there are 3 WC qualifiers in September. He will be desperate to play in those games. To do that he need to be playing for Spurs. To do that he needs to buckle down in training and prove he is 100% focused.
- His is also incredibly focused on Alan Shearers PL record. He will want to score as many goals as possible this season to make a dent in it. That means playing as many games, and Nuno will be picking the team on merit.
- Next summer Haaland's release clause is activated. Man City could easily turn to him if Kane is not still smashing it for us.
