Sorry but you don't sell Kane. He is the difference maker from a football perspective and marketing and is vital to our success right now. He's not old or anywhere close to declining. He will remain at the top of his game for a good 5 years.

We as a club don't need 100m let alone know how to spend it properly. We're one of the wealthiest clubs in the world. An extra 100m in the pocket will only serve to increase the prices we're paying and will be gone in an instant.

There are no players bigger than the club and our wishes are the be all and end all.

Even if we risk he goes for free at the end of the season it's worth it in my view because the money won't make any difference

I can't see Kane kicking up a fuss like last time.

But I also can't see Ange (based off what I read) wanting Kane there with nothing less than full commitment?

There's obviously a world where both can happen, but just an odd one all around

What's more important... 80-90m quid and sign 1 or 2 players now that might strengthen us long term (or be shit) but a heightened chance the entire manager's project is in turmoil?

OR we just spend 90m next summer instead as we usually would but have one of the world's best players to ensure our manager gets his project going? And also an outside chance Kane actually stays.

I'm in camp Keep Kane unless Ange explicitly wants to sell him.

I feel the complete opposite about Levy's handling of Kane, he has had the top English striker for a decade in his prime and neither we nor Harry have any silverware to show for it, it's inexcusable, the equivalence of buying a F1 car and asking your granny to drive it.
You're confusing investing in the squad to back Kane as to what I mean as in solely Kane leaving the club. 2 massively different things.

We've seen arsenal for example in the past sell their best players like Van Persie, Nasri, Sagna, Clichy etc etc to rival prem teams. I'm just glad Levy for certain things has the bollocks to say pay up or piss off for someone like Kane and not just sell to a rival.

Without wishing to beat this horse to death- do not over look (like the media are keen to do) that Kane has played in 4 finals for Spurs and had 4 shots on goal in total in those games. He’s had the chances to win a cup/medal.
He’s shoulders some responsibility for not having any silverware

My stance has always been that if the right bid comes in this summer we should take it. We are looking to rebuild and go in a different direction, we have forwards that can play in his position under this new coach and whilst not as good as Kane are still good enough.

I'd say keep him...but we need to make CL imo in terms of affording and attracting quality replacement

What this thread needs is a poll.
😊

While this is kinda tongue in cheek, I'd actually be rather interested to see how we're split on this.

I wouldn’t sell. 100m gets you nothing in this market. We clearly have money to spend to improve the squad so keep Kane have him supplied by maddison with a better gk and defence behind him and attacking football.

What would 100m even get us? All the quality striker options would probably cost that, Ferguson, Muani etc. Maybe we could get the juve striker?
I just can’t see it being worth it.

There seems to be two camps forming.

Camp 1: Keep Kane as he gives us best chance at champions league

Camp 2: Sell Kane as better to get 85m+ now, rather than nothing in a year.

I agree with camp 1 to a certain extent in that “it’s not my money” and I’d like to see another year of Kane.

But for me the way it breaks down, if you discount the money, is that we can either move Kane on now and get him out of the premier league.

Or we can keep him for a season, but we lose him to a rival premier league club.

And faced with those two scenarios, personally I’d be sending him to Germany.

The other thing that’s worth keeping in mind is what Kane would actually be like next season. If he has decided to not sign a contract, whilst i still think he will care it would be somewhat expected if he didn’t put himself about as much as normal. He won’t want to get injured and risk his future and he might not mentally fully commit to learning a new system if he doesn’t think he will be playing it the following season. Even if every season up until now he has been 100% effort I just wonder if that won’t be the case next season. It’s not as if he would need to prove himself to any potential buyers.

Who knows what he will be like, maybe he will be all in know it’s his last year here, but I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion especially if mentally he is looking towards the next step.

Doubt many 100m strikers are itching to come and join the 8th best team in the country.
If Kane goes people need to wake up and realise we won't even come close to replacing his quality... but the uncomfortable truth is it's going to happen this summer or next, as I can't see why he would even consider signing a new deal here.

Me, I take option B!

We paid nothing for him and have had years of value from him.

I'm willing to gamble that we have a good season and convince him to stay (I honestly believe there's a good chance of that).
We're not replacing him and his output for 80m and I'm kinda sick of selling our big stars, if we want to be a big club, we need to start acting like one.

I don't actually see it as losing anything, if he goes on a free, we've more than had our money's worth and we should not be reliant on money from our big stars to enable a rebuild, the stadium was supposed to be the game changer.
How good a season do you think we have to have, to convince him to sign a new deal next summer, and how realisitic do you think said season is?

We have to be realistic here, finishing 4th is not getting him to stay, and im not sure we even ginish 4th.

I don't think Kane is programmed to not give 100%. Aside from that brief doomed spell under Nuno after his attempt at forcing a move and he basically didn't have a pre-season, he's like a bloodhound for goals.

Chasing the record alone will have him playing out of his skin I reckon.

Outside of the whole 'what's better for us, 80m now or an extra season of Kane' debate I don't think the constant will he won't he nonsense does us any good as a team, I want everyone primed for a new start and enthusiastic about playing for us.

If he won't commit then he needs to be moved on this summer, ideally overseas, and we need to use whatever money we get to get some young hungry players in that want to be here.

I completely agree. I didn’t mention big name ready strikers like osimhen as I know we have no chance.
Best chance we have is getting champions league again and when Kane goes hopefully replace him with someone with good potential and have a full high press high energy attack and create an attack in a different way
Zero chance we find the same quality in a replacement unless we got incredibly lucky and went all out on Ferguson and he turned out to be of that talent level.

Could end up 52% - 48% knowing this board.......that % split hasn't exactly felt like a recipe for agreement elsewhere.....:cautious::cautious::cautious:
