He’s 30 and in the last year of his contract. Unless you’re willing to lose him for nothing next season, you can’t negotiate like that.100m for Bayern.
If Charlie Kane and United are using Bayern to soften spurs up, that value goes to 150m for United.
Spurs have definitely briefed the media this evening
It's across all the UK tabloids now.
In fantasty land - where it belongs.
So you would be happy for the club to bend and be used for him to get a move to a rival? He’s 30 and in the last year of his contract. Unless you’re willing to lose him for nothing next season, you can’t negotiate like that.
Apologies, I wasn't correcting you. I was clarifying it for the poster.
Your point was clear to me.
You can't add a "PL tax" if you don't have multiple suitors that Kane is also willing to sign for. If United are the only domestic club in for him, and he only wants to go to a domestic club, then our options are limited to taking a fee from United or risk letting him leave for free next summer. That's it. And Joe Lewis has apparently already said he'll choose the former. So you would be happy for the club to bend and be used for him to get a move to a rival?
I wouldnt. PL tax should be added
Our negotiating position isn’t strong here. We either sell or he goes next year for nothing. I can’t see any reason Kane would sign an extension at this point (maybe next year if no one suitable comes in and we have a great season under Ange). So you would be happy for the club to bend and be used for him to get a move to a rival?
I wouldnt. PL tax should be added
But imagine having both; a 30 goal a season striker and a solid defenseDon't need a 30 goal a season striker if we can stop conceding 1.65 goals a game.
At least that's how I rationalise it.
Take it.
I see what you're saying, I think a lot of it has been down to the tactical set ups. With Maddison coming in you'd hope the goals would flow more readily and be more spread out. Here is a nice little thought for those worried about his departure.
Under peak Poch, we didnt really have any stand out performers who were a cut above the rest.
One game Kane was the matchwinner.
Next Dele was.
Then Eriksen.
Then Dembele
etc etc.
I dont recall too many games where Kane was the clear best player on the pitch or the one who was driving the team single handedly.
That came once the Jose era had kicked in.
Kane was mostly about his goalscoring, his playmaking gradually came to the fore.
But the key point here is we had a front five - Kane, Dele, Son, Eriksen, Lamela (when fit) - who all shared the goals/creativity/effort and thats what made that team so good.
If one was missing, including Kane, then the others picked it up. In fact, there was a run of games we hardly missed him and when he returned we had some issues.
In recent years we have definitely altered his game so he became a playmaker and goalscorer. I think that has been a benefit and a hinderance at times.
Mark Kane out the game and dont let runners off him and you can stop Tottenham. Although, I do think Kane has elevated his game to overcome some of those barriers on his own, I wouldnt say it has elevated the team.
The question is, would today's Kane be a hinderance to Postecoglou's system?
I doubt very much Postecoglou wants his CF dropping so deep for the ball. Thats Maddison's role.
We saw Kane and Maddison stepping on each other's toes a bit against West Ham. Maybe they would adapt a bit but if Kane is adamant on coming to receive the ball then he will step on Maddison's toes.
Also, the player leading the line has to sprint press immediately not press intermittently.
Kane wont be able to quite simply play the way he has been playing, where he seemed to have a bit of a free role at times. Postecoglou doesnt want forward players dropping too far back.
the BSODL would tell you that we can't do a LeedsWe’re definitely not short of money.
I refuse to believe that Arsenal who have spent £500m+ in 3 windows have more money than us.
It’s the ownership with different ambitions which is the deciding factor…
the obvious spin will be that little helpless CEO is just carrying out the instructions of a person who attends matches once in a blue moon. What shit owners we have
