Having dealt with some German clients recently - who, actually, were some of the nicest blokes I've dealt with in 15 years in the ol' game - they were very keen to do in person meetings, especially at key points during the deal. On speaking to them about this, it's embedded in a lot of their business culture apparently.

I mean that could also be specific to that company, however it would make sense why this nonsense isn't being done by phone/Teams/Zoom/webcam and a prayer.

Yep. That is very German. THey are one of teh very few countries that I know of where people still actually know their bank manager. Personal relationships are really important for business in Germany (and I have to say that I rather like it).

If he leaves I do hope it's to Bayern or another league but I still can't get my head around him giving up on the goals record. Hope I'm wrong but I still think he'll turn Bayern down which will leave us open to bids from other PL clubs or him seeing out the rest of the contract and moving next year.

O keefe saying meeting rescheduled for early next week

He also says Bayern reckon levy is going to make negotiations extremely difficult , sounds like this is going to drag for a few more weeks which is what we don't need.

Makes perfect business sense to sell Kane now, but I don't support a business, I support a football team.

Hate this idea that *if* we sell Kane, we can go out and buy a centre back or two. Why can we only do that if we sell our greatest ever player? We're not poor. We should be buying those players regardless.
I get the argument. But I’d much rather sell him abroad than watch him paraded in a UTD/Chelsea top in 12 months time on a free. Can you imagine how that would feel? We don’t sell him now, we lose all control where he ends up.

He should be though shouldn’t he. We shouldn’t be just rolling over and having our tummies tickled just to get it done quickly.

If they don't actually hash anything out at a meeting today and it gets pushed into next week then I think we're already verging on it being too late to do this deal. As we've seen with other sizeable deals this summer, they can drag on for weeks fucking about trying to agree a payment structure even after a price is agreed, and this would be the biggest deal to happen this window in Europe.

If we haven't even got a price agreed, even if we get to that point what is their reaction when we decide it's only going to happen with 50% up front, or more? Or a sell-on clause? They're clearly penny pinching, and they're not even quick at rifling through their purse to see how many pennies they actually have. Days and weeks between discussions. We certainly won't see any cash for another couple of weeks, which means we won't be spending it either.

They really needed to put up 2 weeks ago on this or be told to fuck off entirely. Time for H to put some heat on Bayern if he actually wants this to happen this summer.

Except he never played more than 30 league games in a season in his whole time at spurs and had foot and ankle issues for years. So it wasn’t remotely surprising he didn’t age well: it’s almost as if body type, injuries and other factors mean you can have a higher level of confidence in some players maintaining a high level than others….
Before his final injury hit season, he’d missed only 25 games in his Tottenham career. And only 16 in his time at Fulham.

In the last 6 years, HK has missed 56 games.

Much more concerned levy doing his classic move of negotiating with Bayern up until the final week of the window, finally give in and then we have no replacement.

30 years old and by all accounts unlikely to sign a new contract , seems to me taking the money if enough offered is the sensible thing to do and on the plus side Harry will not be in a Manure shirt or any other PL teams shirt.
If he stays for one more season and then goes on a free , Levy will be absolutely crucified , either way Levy will be castigated by one section of the fan base whatever decision he makes.

Iam sure levy will be happy he will squeeze a few more quid out of bayern so enic will be happy, meanwhile it will be like the berbatov deal all over again when we ended up with frazer campbell. Good luck ange you’re going to need it.

Joy so we're going to piss about with this for longer.

No worries about getting our new manager ready for the season.

Levys going to squeeze Bayern for every penny and he’ll probably get us a good deal.

Whilst he’s worrying about that though, our main targets will either commit to their clubs or go elsewhere and our season will once again begin under a cloud of uncertainty, with the same defence we suffered through last season.

As always, the finances of this will come first, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes all summer.

How many times has that happened in the last decade?

Nice share mate and yea same, the German's I've dealt with for business have been some of the nicest and easiest people to do business with and as you say they really value those personal relationships.

Shame if meetings has been re-scheduled to early next week, every day counts with this, we need it sorted asap.

If he signs a centre back in the meantime and I mean a first choice one, not a cheap option then I'll take it back but it all looks on hold until this is done right now.

Poor Ange.😩
