From Prof on COYS about 15 minutes before the bid being rejected hitting the news. The shorter contract is what I reckon will happen and suggested it a few weeks ago as the best move for everyone.

A mixture of info from Gawain and a new source.

We have put two contract options in front of Harry and his reps.
A long term incentive laden contract to remove the uncertainty for us and for him. Barring significant injury he’d break Shearer’s record and pretty much retire as a Spurs player.
A mid-range contract with buyout clause that would put us in a similar position next summer as we are this summer. This option would give us at least another year of Harry, and give him time to decide whether he’s buying in to our future under Ange, as well as setting a minimum sale price.

No idea if he’ll negotiate a bit and then sign one of them, sign neither and leave on a free next summer, or be sold before this window closes. DL wants a decision asap so Spurs know how much they’ll have to spend and which positions they’ll need to focus on for the remainder of the window.

This week provides much for both HK and DL to ponder.

nah...unless Kane signs the contract
He isn’t going to sign a contract, no player in his position would. He will let it run down as he would still have the option to remain here at the point anyway. Plus all the other options and complete control of his career. I guess the only way I could see him signing before his contract ends would be some kind of truely massive offer from us.

I think it will be hard to see a massive turn around where we competing for trophies this year, that seems more than a bridge to far to me. I think we are playing better in the preseason but that’s a world away from the hard grind of a competitive Premier League season.

Let's hang fire on the celebrations just yet - if you think this is the end to the saga or indeed Kane signing a new deal then I think the percentages are pretty damn small.

Bayern haven't walked away from this deal
We haven't explicitly said we won't sell
Kane hasn't explicitly stated he wants to stay

Uncertainty still very much surrounds the situation and far from ideal for Ange and the rest of the team which is mine and should be everyone's priority here.

This "boring" thing pisses me off. Bored of what? Trying to keep our best ever player?

Let's just sell him so you don't have to read a news article about him. Or you could just not click the fucking link and then we can watch Harry Kane score 40 more goals in the lilywhite.
Mate he's been trying to bin Kane off for 2 years, he really thought this summer his dream would come true. He's bound to be upset.

Also worth noting that @Trix did mention that there were some rumblings about Levy’s trip to the US possibly having a link to the Kane situation.

Ether way I must say it’s a little surprising. Seemed all but done, something must have happened considering we obviously didn’t say no straight away.

I can't see how Levy going to America has any bearing on the deal other than to play mind games with Bayern.

The best option for Kane is to simply leave on a free next year, from a logical pov. Once you bring the emotions into it, I understand the hesitation. This really is a difficult decision for someone who loves the club.

Boo you and your perfectly sound, logical way of thinking.

Yeah what happened is that their offer was to low.

That's because you have a problem with how you are interpreting what you are reading unless you have seen things posted that I haven't.
Well the exact words I read were ‘Bayern have ponied up and the ball is with team Kane now’

So unless i’ve misinterpreted that, that was the last/latest post in the ITK thread. But fair enough if you have posted differently. I may not have read every post.

I can’t see Levy turning the bid down without assurances Kane is very interested in signing a new deal.

I wonder what the USA trip was really about.

This is Man City all over again. If BM want the player they know the price. Playing chicken with Levy is pointless.
