Sadly I think if Kane had a choice of lifting the world cup with England or lifting the PL with Spurs he would choose England

I kind of implied this in a thread last week. I don't think it's as black and white as that (hey, it's 'more nuanced') but I do know what you mean and can relate to the post. If only there was a rating that conveyed such a complex range of emotions, fucking Internet...

I still can't get used to a homehrown, spurs striker being unironically called "the worlds best striker".

It's a good feeling. It's nice to hear kids picking up and following spurs because they like Harry Kane. We've not had a player like him for years.

For the record, Kane was asked this exact question in an interview ‘game’ with (I think) Dele, when they both had to answer quickfire questions quickly. He chose England.

I’ve tried looking for it but can’t find it. I saw it a year or two ago. I’m sure it was a promotional video for someone like Nike. It’s a hard question for anyone to answer let alone quickly, but he probably said the right thing in terms of the potentially millions of England fans watching that vid.

Edit: found another vid where he says the same

Tbf I think 99% of footballers would rather win teh World Cup than any other trophy. It is the pinnacle of your career, it's the one trophy where people won't really consider you a legend until you've won it. It's also the trophy that means your name is etched into your country's football legend forever. The guys from '66 will always be memorable than probably Gerrard, Lampard and Hoddle even if individually some of them weren't better players. They aren't forgotten. That is a legacy.

It’s also only every four years (although I’m sure FIFA will try to make it more often some day) which gives it an elusiveness that a competition that resets every year doesn’t have.

I'm entitled to an opinion on it and I just feel being England captain it would seem bigger for him to lift the world cup but we will never know
I see where you're coming from, if you mean that, for him, lifting the World Cup would be more significant. I can understand that thought process. Not sure I agree, but wouldn't be surprised if he did.

seeing comments to his MBE award on social media - it's an absolute disgrace all these people criticising for how he looks or speaks. why on earth in this country do we like to bring successful humble people like him down? do you think Argentina and Portugal is littered with fans taking the piss out of Messi and Ronaldo?

honestly, the mentality of people in this country is shocking. and i get that it's mostly just rival fans, but its fucking pathetic and get me really riled.
