One player does not a team make.

I’m kind of apathetic about all this.

If he wants to leave, then so be it.
As I’ve said in the past, I just kind of enjoy watching the meltdowns and the drama unfold. It’ll be what it’ll be.

Someone else also said it earlier in the thread - I’ve never warmed to Kane. Can’t put my finger on why. I think the way he plays is a little cringey at times. The free kicks, the pot shots from out of nowhere when he could have played in someone in a better position, the swan diving, the winning of real soft free kicks. I can’t even fully explain it. Maybe it is the whole Roy Of The Rovers, Spurs poster boy thing. Exceptional footballer and has scored some absolute worldies but I dunno. Doesn’t get my blood pumping and heart racing somehow.

I do not and never will feel the same about Kane as I do Bale. Bale just, I dunno. Different league for me.
I’d rather watch in form Bale than in form Kane. I think it’s the flair and athleticism, that left foot and the way in which he plays. It’s beautiful.

We’ve won plenty of matches without Kane and in a lot of those matches we have arguably player better football.
I’d sooner he stayed, but if he did, I reckon I’d actually think he was a bit soft and unambitious.

Tried hard. Achieved nothing.

The only thing Id say is Poch fell out with Walker. Which led to that sale happening, Walker seemed disappointed to be leaving (as evidenced with photo of him and his kid who loved spurs). So I guess that sale was partially understandable.

Although, maybe we should have tried to get Madrid or Barca involved. The least we could have done is demanded Sancho

Walker did appear to love the club and didn't really seem like he was forcing the move so maybe you're right and Poch fell out with him.

Either way I think he(Poch) /the club really underestimated Walkers value. Although he makes defensive errors like he did against Newcastle and isn't the most cultured of player, his pace was and still is insane. And I think Poch really needed to identify someone in world football with a similar sort of attribute. The difference between him and Trippier who was technically better but physically much worse was huge. And our defence never really recovered after that final season at whl which really seems like a lifetime ago now.

Kane is leaving, be it this season or next. But what will the club do in regards to replacing him. I can just imagine some random scattergun approach like we've seen before trying to get someone on the cheap. There isn't really any other player that comes to mind with a similar skill set to Kane so it will take a shift in mentality in how the team operates but fck knows how we go about that. I doubt Levy has any idea either.

If Kane’s brother leaked it he truly wants out.

£250m release clause and all is well.

That’s if it came from his agent and people have been going on that Kane’s brother is his agent. But yes, I agree. If it came from his agent, he 100% wants out. But even it didnt, he likely wants out anyway. As would anyone in his position.

1/4 bill release clause would be great but we wouldnt even get that in a normal financial environmnet. Covid or not, we’ll be looking at between £150-200m

I see this more positive, hoping Levy comes up with something where he stays one more season and then will leave to the highest bidder if he chooses.
Here’s hoping.

I think we’ve all seen this day coming, and can any of us blame Kane for wanting to further his career. It’s inarguable that we have regressed massively and we are now further away from achieving team success than we have been at anytime in the last 5 years. This is due to a litany of cock ups and incompetence from the board, the management and the players. And Harry is not without blame in these various failings, he has not really shown up in the big one off games, he (reportedly) pushed for Poch to go and (reportedly) was a big Jose acolyte

But whether anyone slaps in a bid north of £150m in the current climate remains to be seen, but if they do a mutual parting of the ways is probably for the best if he is disillusioned with his future prospects at Spurs

The trouble is do we trust the current ownership to reinvest that money properly?

For me this goes back to that Summer with no investment. We fell so far behind that it proved what a ridiculous decision that was from the board

He doesn't want fucking revenue, he doesn't want a recent history of finishing 4th, he doesn't want to win the fight for 6th against Lanzini from the Athletics Dome, he wants Premier League and Champions League trophies.
But he's had chances to win both those with Spurs and he is NO LESS culpable than the rest of the team that he/we didn't win them.
There is no doubt he's one of today's the best strikers but when we were chasing the Premier League with Leicester did he raise his game and help us win crucial games like Leicester(H), WHU(A), Arse(H), Chelsea(A) - If we'd won the first 3 games(11 more points) we would have probably been champions by the Chelsea game.
The rest of the team got us to the CL Final thanks to some brilliant performances both collectively and individually. Kane then insisted he was fit enough to play in the Final which he clearly wasn't. His selfishness cost Lucas(the man whose hat trick in the SF got us there) a place in the starting lineup. Kane has played some great games for us but I cannot think of one BIG game(league deciding game, Semi Final or Final) where he has had a great game or even an appreciably better game than the rest of the team. All those things you say he doesn't want neither do the rest of the players and I get sick of hearing that the "star" player in a team is always let down by the other "lesser' players. It's a team sport, you win together, you lose together.

I obviously adore Kane like every other Spurs fan. And I desperately want him to stay and would be heartbroken if he goes. But if his reasons for leaving are because he doesn’t believe he can win trophies with us then that’s poor from him. He’s had the chance to win trophies with us and he has failed to perform in the clutch moments just like many of his teammates. We’ve not scored a goal in the last four finals we’ve played. He was not a key contributor past the knockout stages in our Champions League run. Again, I love the man, I want him to play out the rest of his career with us, but I do feel he’s not been let down by his teammates all the time. He’s failed to show up in big moments himself. His career up until this point has been sheer, mind-boggling volume with very few truly important moments. Why I don’t agree with this “you deserve it Harry, go to City and win your trophies” attitude. He’s had chances to win them with us and didn’t deliver. Moving now is simply the easy way out.
spot on. I hadn't got down to your post when I posted a very similar post. Great minds think alike!(y)

Well JJ has liked a tweet backing up AG's comments that he hasn't actually asked to leave. But whatever ends up happening, it's clear he's unhappy and we need to fully plan for him to not be here long term.

Best scenario is we get another season and use that time wisely.
