Appreciate how good Kane has been for us, but personally a player leaving Spurs hasn’t upset me since Teddy went, the main difference being I’m a grown man now with a mortgage, baby, life, etc.

Imagine how us older generation felt when Jimmy Greaves left..........to join West Ham.

I think people need to get real if Grealish became available lots of clubs would be interested and he would have better options than Spurs. Ambition talks.
But who else would be in for him is the question - city presumably would have spent a load on Kane. Chelsea don’t need another AM. Same for United. Arsenal? Doubt they’d have the money for him

Bale leaving was so much worse.

For me anyway..

For me too. I (naively) felt that Bale could have catapulted us to greatness if we’d kept hold of him in his prime years.

With Harry, we’ve had him in his prime and the club is going backwards anyway.

It’s the death of all hope in us ever being competitive that paradoxically makes this one less painful.

I lost all my respect for Kane when he did that 'come and get me interview' . The fact he did it when we still had 2 important games was a disgrace.

The meltdown from other clubs and the media will be funny if he does go to City though. They’ll say how it’s unfair that City are buying the league etc etc. So at least that’s one positive.

As dark and ominous as it looks, and as disappointing as the interview and its timing was, I think the fanbase should try to avoid turning on Kane.

This is exactly what the media and club mouthpieces like Neville want to happen, and how it always plays out, the club doesnt want to sell but fans boo or turn on the player which makes it easier to sell/forces players out of the club.

It's up to levy to decide whether he actually wants to be a competitive football team or an events venue. Invest properly, with a decent coach and dof setup, spurs could easily compete for the fa cup next year and do much better in the league. If he doesnt then I think it's clear that next season is going to be about much fun as this one has been.

Bale had a better chance to propel us to greatness. He had game winners in him and the potential to carry teams to trophies. Everyone saw that. That’s why Madrid wanted him. And he did just that for them. Kane isnt that player. He’s had the chances to be that player. He is not that player. In fact, he often went missing in those games for us. What makes Kane leaving worse is that he decided to be a massive fucking thunder **** and do it during the fucking season. Fuck him. No respect for the club. No respect from me. Bye asshole. Fix your fucking face.

I am firmly in the camp of fuck kane & in the fuck levy camp. This is one of thise situations where both things are possible to feel when they really shouldnt be. But Kane managed to achieve the rare feat of making it possible.

Imo Harry wants to leave because he knows, like the rest of us, that Levy is the weak link. Tottenham wont win trophies whilst Levy is calling the shots.

All the anger directed at Harry should be directed at Levy.

The whole notion that he can leave with our best wishes after a job well done is fucking defeatist bullshit.

After multiple failed loans, we still rewarded him with a new contract and gave him the platform to become a global star. In that time he’s been rewarded with a stream of new contracts that now has him earning £200k+ per week. We smashed our entire wage structure for him.

He moans in the media about wanting to win trophies and yet we’ve given him the platform to compete for the biggest trophies available and he’s gone missing in every single one of those games.

If the media is to be believed, he first told the club he would be interested in a move away last year. He wasn’t even prepared to give Mourinho a chance. He essentially wanted out at the very first sign of trouble at this club.

He is 47 goals away from breaking a record nobody thought would be broken. Essentially he’s 47 goals away from being Tottenham Hotspur’s greatest ever player. Don’t forget this is a club he supports and says he loves.

Instead, he’d rather destroy the end of our season by selling himself in interviews and turn his back on us at the first sign of trouble and do a deal with the devil just for a trophy that would have very little significance for him personally. City are winning trophies with or without Harry Kane.

The guy doesn’t know what loyalty means. Fuck him.

I agree with some of what you say but as someone mentioned in this thread previously it is funny how when they're good players we expect loyalty but when they're shit we don't show any as fans. Just look at us fans with Winks.

Can't have it both ways.

Bale was more spectacular, and could win games on his own, true. But goals are goals, and Harry’s numbers are up there with the best (in this country anyway).

The fact that we’ve had Kane banging in 20-30 goals a season for eight years and still won nothing is a fucking travesty.

Kane never demanded guaranteed trophies. He demanded we were ambitious, on the right trajectory, able to compete. United offer that. Meanwhile we have replaced Dembele with Ndombele, Eriksen with Lo Celso, Vertonghen with Sanchez, Walker with Doherty. We failed our end of the bargain through a total lack of ambition.
United offers being able to compete as much as we do. In reality they didn't improve in comparison to previous season.

Kane signed new contract in 2018. In 2018 Walker was already replaced by Aurier, Sanchez even when it doesn't work for him right now he was playing very good first season after being bought for 40m - he was seen as one of the most talented CB in the world. Ndombele and Lo Celso certainly doesn't show a total lack of ambition, in addition this summer we spent more than them.

And btw, how would you call selling main striker for 80m, then replacing him with no one same window but finally signing striker from free transfer in deadline day next year?

For me, I’m not so sure the idea of this sale has come about as recently as we may think.

Ages ago we got ITK that there would be money to spend this summer, but it could mean one of our top stars would leave to fund it. Personally, I though that star would be Dele, but maybe Levy knew Kane would be looking to leave and made his peace with that some time ago.

Whatever happens, the next two weeks will likely be the most important publicity drive in Levy’s tenure.

It’s the sceptic in me that says we will be no wiser or further on in 2 weeks.

Kane isn’t ‘one of our top stars’. He is by an order of magnitude our most important and most valuable player. Our talisman. Home grown. Top scorer every year. He’s not someone you sell to a rival to free up transfer funds (that we’ll no doubt waste on flops again).

I get what you’re saying but I don’t think Harry Winks is the best example of it tbh. It’s pretty apparent that he’s not good enough to be playing for this club but he’s still taking the opportunity to say he isn’t happy with the amount of game time he has in every interview he does. I’d agree with you with the likes of Lamela and Lloris who are good enough and always leave 100% out on the pitch and still get constant streams of abuse from fans.

What rubs me up the wrong way is that Harry Kane signed that 6 year contract 3 years ago and was essentially asking to leave just 2 years into it. If he broke his leg at the euros and was out for 18 months, he’d expect us to be loyal to that contract and continue paying him. We should at least expect that same level of loyalty reciprocated.

We had ITK that there would be money to spend after the news about Kane wanting to leave
