The best way out for him is a new contract with a release clause that is active 1st July - 31st July. £120M + £5M for every trophy he wins with his new club. Is a great price for someone who will be 29 next summer. If he believes in his talent someone will pay that. I have a feeling Man U will be interested next summer to upgrade on Cavani.

I've been somewhat reliably informed, it's illegal to have a 'release clause' in a players' contract here in the UK. Now that might be bollocks, but that's what I've been told. If anyone has the definitive answer, I'd appreciate it.

If Kane does stay for another season, I'd like us to add City to our 'no deal' list along with Chelsea and Arsenal in the future. Personally, I'd rather sell Kane at a discount to literally anyone else but them now. Their entitlement (and owner's human rights abuses) is frankly sickening and it would be great if we didn't help facilitate it.

It's simply going to come down to how desperate City get.

Chelsea getting Lukaku, United looking strong, Chelsea and Liverpool winning big.

Jesus, Sterling & Bernardo have all fallen down the pecking order/less favoured as they once were and Torres isn't going to suddenly start banging them (although he has potential)

City & Pep know that they need some form of goalscorer in the team. I don't think they will be able to spread goals throughout the team as well as last season.

If we beat City tomorrow they may start to get a little panicky.

They should be on that list anyway. We should never have sold them Kyle Walker, sent entirely the wrong message about the club.

That article to me just reads a pre-cursor to them being able to write about a stunning u-turn and how Levy caved and blah blah blah.

When in reality it’s backing the new manager, DoF whilst also sticking to what we said, pay the money we want you to pay.

Just like Palace for example have done with Zaha for years, we set a price and a deadline, no money no move! Zaha has agitated for a move, made his desire to join Arsenal very clear. I knew someone, a glamour model, who went to a garden party about 3 years ago and spoke to Zaha at length. He said how desperate he was to join arsenal, that he was an arsenal fan and that he hoped would get the move that summer. Palace wanted £80 million, nobody paid it, Zaha sulked, Zaha stayed. End of story for another year. It has got to the stage now where clubs don't even bother to enquire anymore because they know the answer and they no longer feel that Zaha is worth anywhere close to what Palace would want!

For me it is already way too late. If they really wanted him they wouldn't have bought grealish and put the money towards getting kane. They didn't. They spent £100 million on Grealish and now don't want to pay the asking price for Kane.

Levy needs to say that he won't be moving now regardless of the offer that comes in. It is way too late to replace him, therefore he cannot go. Levy cannot allow another berbatov Frasier Campbell type scenario to happen.

This is exactly right. Levy should take a feather out of Palace's cap and keep Kane here for the duration of his contract Zaha style, no player is more powerful than the club no matter how much agitating they do. The facts are that Spurs and Levy don't want to sell and City haven't bid anywhere close to our valuation, if they've even bid at all, and everything else simply doesn't matter!

I wonder how likely this scenario is:

We beat city tomorrow sans Kane,
City shit their pants and offer ~150m
We accept and buy Vlahovic & Martinez & CB
City win league and Kane gets his medal
Spurs new squad gel and we sneak top 4

wouldn’t mind a bit of that tbh

Not sure journos can win tbh. If he writes ‘spurs will sell, so weak’ this place would go off on one. He writes ‘spurs are standing strong and trying to keep him’ instead, but now it’s a gotcha moment to make the club look bad.

100% agreed.

I thought selling Walker was relatively good business and an "absorbable" loss.

That said, I'm ok not selling to them again.

I don't want us selling to british clubs at all - I despise Utd and have seen them take Carrick, Sheringham, Berbatov - but the way the landscape is at the moment, british clubs might be the only ones we can sell to.

Exactly. Officially, we have consistently said that he isn't for sale. ITK and the press have speculated a fee we would consider and also the line about a gentleman's agreement with Levy. But the fact is, we can't verify any of that.

All we know for sure is that Kane is still a spurs player presumably because he is either not for sale or no club has offered enough.

That window has now closed as we cannot replace him. End of story.

Maybe he/she could stop writing complete fabrications mascarading as truth and either do some real journalism or go and get a proper job instead of stealing a living!

Jeeeeeeesus christ that Frazier Campbell deal still haunts me.
It was one of the low points in our history. To be mugged off like some 2 Bob team from the lower leagues, live on sky for the world to watch!

I would have taken berbatov to court for breach of contract before allowing my club to be treated like that!

I really hope Levy stands his ground, and that Kane only goes if

1, Man C offer what Levy wants

2, we have a guaranteed replacement and another definite (hopefully Martinez and Vlahovic (sp)

if the above 2 don't happen then he stays whether he likes it or not. if he doesn't put in the work if he has to stay then we will struggle so we might as well keep him away from the 1st team. he will soon buck his ideas up or he won't be on the plane to the world cup, or even the qualifiers.

moving to City means he will get trophies because it's a guarantee of at least 1 a season with them, he won't be winning them he will be handed them due to the way City has sports washed the game. I would absolutely love it if something happened (a miracle) and over his contract with them, he still fails.

I really hope he is nowhere near the ground today.

I couldn’t care less how much we get. I just don’t want us to give in and sell. But the fact we haven’t made any statements whatsoever makes me think we have a price. If so, City need to meet it.
