Mane and £70mil?
I’d be happy (as things go) with that.
We just got/getting Solomon and have Son we really don't need another right footed left winger. Also he was incredibly disappointing last season, he was literally voted most disappointing player in the league, and he also punched Sane in the tunnel after they lost 3-0 to City. BM already want shot and supposedly Al Nassr have made a move for him. At 30 years old i wouldn't go anywhere near him, the wages he'd be after are probably astronomical.

January wasn't the time to spend big on CB, the Conte boat had already sailed. I'm not sure why we bought Porro either. You'll know more than me but has Ange ok'd the full purchase or were we already tied in?
Yep and neither was last Summer or the January before that........Fact is it's never the right time because the manager might be off or whatever reason, perhaps the numerous boats wouldn't have sailed if the captain's got what they needed in the first place?

Two things we're not certain of, 1) we're not certain to lose Kane at the end of this season, and 2) Bayern might not even make an acceptable bid for him, so you're still back to losing him on a free IF he doesn't sign another contract.

Hoping for Kane to sign another contract feels like grasping at straws. Yes, it's possible, but it's also possible we win the league next year.

Come January, some of Europe's biggest and wealthiest clubs will compete for his signature—the likes of Munich, Madrid, PSG, Man U, Man C, and Chelsea. Aside from the allure of finally winning major trophies, these clubs will also reward Kane with a massive signing-on fee and probably a considerable wage rise.

What are the chances he chooses to stay with Spurs under those circumstances?

50M on a CB probably would have paid for itself in a 4th place finish and we’d still have been in position to sign Ange once the season ended.

I think all those clubs will have already made their interest clear to him (in order to persuade him not to sign elsewhere this summer) so I don’t think January is going to be some big revelation for him. He will already know what’s likely and what decision he has to make imminently IF we even accept a bid

I just can't get my head around him wanting to go there. The only thing he's probably guarenteed to win is the Bundesliga, what would that really mean to him?

If he stays he can wait and see if we make any significant progress in the next six months then if we don't he has the pick of any club in the world next summer.

Exactly and that's what will happen.

Keeping him around for one final season is economically the equivalent of paying a 100m loan fee.

That may or may not be worth it, but would certainly be one hell of a loan fee.

Very much agree with this. I wish it wasn’t the case but I’m convinced we are losing him for nothing in one year barring a ridiculous improvement from us next season. That improvement would need to be in a year where most have accepted it will take some time for the managers methods to set in. Add to that Levy supposedly going back on a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ when he held the cards, and the level of interest/offers he will get next season from teams consistently in the hunt for trophies.

So of course we are a worse team without him but would you pay £100m to have Harry Kane for one season?

I would sell and splash on as good a replacement as possible. Using the foregone wages of Kane/Lloris to make a big offer to a Vlahovic/Martinez/Hojlund. Then would use the remainder to get Scott and Tapsoba in addition to VdV, rather than Tosin.

I wish we could just keep Kane for the rest of his career though! It’ll be disappointing but we have to make the best of the situation we are in now. The fact that we look like only getting one of vdV or Tapsoba, doesn’t seem like we are planning on the sale just yet though - maybe there is still hope behind the scenes he will extend, it was the same with Eriksen though.

No one will actually pay 100 mil for a 30 year old that's free next summer. So we're talking maybe 70 mil.
He's worth that for one season.

Personally don’t think you can underestimate the potential negative and disruptive influence it will have on the entire season either. Especially the type of manager and person ange seems to be. A first half of the season with constant talk of pre contract agreements. A second half of the season (assuming he doesn’t sign a pre contract) of kane this, Kane that, Tottenham will be f*cked etc.

I would be seriously concerned about that affect should we get through the summer with no real decision.
Just don’t think there is a way round it either - the two options are - he signs this summer and commits or we cash in

I really think to give Ange and the team the best possible chance we at least have to be decisive - however painful, it could be a whole lot worse over the next 12 months and then where he decides to go next……..

Maybe this is the time to move on. A truly fresh start with Postecoglou. It would be better to get both a few for Kane and see him in another league.

For Kane though, surely the Premier League record goal scorer is a better achievement than a German league winners medal.

I also think Ferguson is the place to invest any money that comes in, rather than a more senior sticker from the continent. Build up the next young 100 - 200 goal CF. Trouble will be Brighton will probably be asking for a fair chunk of the money we receive from Harry’s sale.

At least if he chooses to join Bayern this summer rather than a PL rival next summer then realistically you'd imagine will rejoin us when the time comes for him to return to the PL and break the goalscoring record.

He'll have his trophies and maybe even a balon d'or all the while still being adored by most spurs fans..

Thats how I'm going to choose to spin it anyway to help myself sleep soundly.

They ain’t selling Ferguson not a chance would take a crazy bid . Probably 60-70m . That for a player that’s only played half a season in premier league would be a huge risk . Definitely a promising player but he needs another full year at Brighton.

Surprised that hes really considering going to Germany (allegedly).
If he goes we will manage somehow. We must.

The one thing I’m surprised about is that there isn’t more Utd talk. If they are hearing Kane is open to moving this summer I thought they would be all over it, out bid BM and woo Kane.
No doubt Levy would be less keen to sell to a PL rival but money talks
