Been quite interesting hearing the POV on the transfer from my German mate (Leipzig fan). According to him most people in Germany basically think Kane is a done deal because they're so used to them signing everyone they want and all the German press is so gung ho about the transfer.

He was quite surprised that I said I felt like it was still 70/30 that he stays and that the mood among Spurs fans was so different to the view in Germany. Obviously he knew nothing about how much of a joke Charlie Kane is, and while Levy has a reputation over there, I don't think there's ever been a high profile Levy transfer saga with a German club for them to realise quite how much of a bastard he is to deal with when he has a high value asset.
There is only one thing that is worse about Bundesliga than Bayern taking the best players of Dortmund and Leipzig. It's that the clubs are willing to take them back once Bayern doesn't desire them anymore (see Goetze and Hummels). Talk about lack of self-respect.

The only thing that niggles with me is levy is gonna be having sleepless night's thinking about a depreciating asset.
He must also know he's on thin ice with a growing number of fans so he's gotta get this right.

Meanwhile, some on here expecting that we'd take him back after a couple of years, or worse, loan him out to them.

Ha, if you think these tactics will work with Levy you've no understanding of our chairman at all.

This will simply harden his resolve.

The very fact that Bayern have to resort to these tactics is because they're nowhere near our asking price.

Good news imo.
Interestingly I remember Perez's 'Bale was born to play for Madrid' comments just before Bake moved to Madrid.

Bayern maybe talking like this because they are further along than most people think.

Again, I don't know either way but people are being awfully dismissive without much to back it up.

It isn't happening until Munich put in an acceptable offer.

The fact that hey are doing everything publicly indicates that they probably can't afford what we would ask for.

Levy won't bend. So I'd say we are more in the realms of it isn't happening, than it is.
Until they offer that 100m yeah?

Levy's problem - there is no "right" here.

This is a problem that is several years in the making - the solution was to invest more fully in the club 2-3 years ago.

Now - there is only one thing Levy can do to make this "right" and it's completely out of his hand. He must get Kane to sign a new contract - but, having played games with Kane in the past, its hard to see Kane wanting to help Levy out here.

If Levy sells Kane - Levy is the villain.

If Levy lets Kane walk for free - Levy is the villain.

Here what I think is happening.

The Kane family are saying too much in negotiations and that doesn't include Harry himself

They know the world is their oyster and will want to keep all options open.

We would sell but it has to be a number that makes the chairman think it isn't worth gambling on champions league. Say maybe 100 million pounds

Bayern can't afford it and wouldn't pay it anyway so due to Charlie and the father being so friendly they're hoping pressure from the media and the family will get them a deal.

Harry meanwhile probably likes the sound of it but also thinks what's the rush? Only a year left either way where he can earn much more and have the pick of clubs.

This only ends if they pay what Levy wants. We all know it, Harry knows it but as we have all said. They think we're Dortmund and they can bully us. Unless Levy has had a brain transplant I've never ever known him to be bullied and he won't start now

Naivety from Charlie and arrogance from Bayern is what's pushing this drama.

80 million for Bale, at the time, was a massive fee.

Equivalent of nearly double today I reckon.

They paid up, simple.

Bayern are miles away and Perez never said about us having to give up lol.

I mean it's not even comparable.

Hoeneß on Kane deal: "Then we'll get him"

Georg Holzner and Mario Krichel report from the FC Bayern training camp at Tegernsee.

After FC Bayern's first training session, which lasted more than 90 minutes, was over on Saturday evening, Uli Hoeneß snuck out of the specially installed fitness tent for the pros and took about ten minutes to talk to the journalists who were present before driving back to his house to talk about the current situation with the German champions - and about the upcoming one.

One could "please not" expect him to comment on the club's transfer goals, Hoeneß said at the start. "Now we've finally closed the club, so let's not start leaking it again on the first day, okay?" And then, a few moments later, he was almost unstoppable when it came to wish forward Harry Kane.

When Tottenham's tough negotiator Daniel Levy came up, Hoeneß wanted to get rid of something - without criticizing or attacking the Englishman in any way. "He's clever," grinned Bayern's honorary president and swung back. "He doesn't name a number."

So a sum that Tottenham demands for its captain and record scorer. "First of all, we have to get him to name a number. Of course he plays for time, he's a savvy and, I think, super professional, I appreciate him very much. But I think there are also people on the other side, who haven't been doing this since yesterday."

So will Kane end up at Bayern Munich? "Personally, I didn't speak to him that often," admitted Hoeneß, Supervisory Board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge "regularly", CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen as well. "So far, Harry has made it very clear in all talks that his decision is there. And if it stays, then we'll get him. Then Tottenham will have to give in. Because a club like that says no to 80 million, 90 million ... " it doesn't exist.

According to Hoeneß, Kane "wants to play internationally". However, Tottenham missed out on European competition as bottom in England. "He now has another opportunity to come to a top club in Europe. What we all like is that he and his advisors - his father and brother - have always clearly stood by what they promised - until now . If it stays that way, that's okay."

And that ended up with them paying a world record fee for Bale. If this ended up the same way, we should fleece Bayern for every penny.

They've obviously been used to it being a Bayern's market. I would like to think that Kane is at the age now where he is wiser and is genuinely more aware of his legacy and being careful about his next steps. Not many players get to the immortal status that he has got to at a club. I say that as he doesn't seem to be fully appreciated as a legend by his nation despite being record goal scorer. He will have more respect after retirement for sure, his name will be there, but the full appreciation he deserves I'm not so sure apart from us.

Perez also, conveniently, offered a world record transfer fee...

Bayern are offering less than Arsenal paid for Pepe.
