Simons has already pre-announced that he is making an announcement at 2pm CET today, his loan to Leipzig must already be completed, which I think throws a spanner in this particular works
It's strange as he isn't officially a PSG player yet, he left PSV pre-season training yesterday

Is there any context to this, or do I have to spend my morning going through this thread to work out who the fuck Simons is and what works have just been spannered?

If he did go, who would we look to replace him?

I think I'd like us to go for goncalo ramos.

Rasmus Hojlund maybe? Tbh it’s tricky isn’t it, because if we sell Kane there just is currently an option to bring in who comes close to immediately replacing his output, I guess we’re buying potential aren’t we.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a move for Hojlund or yes Ramos as you say, then putting the change on the bid for a cb.

I mean, it is the thing that has been discussed the last few pages... stories that PSG intend to use their young player Xavi Simons in negotiations with us for Kane. Simons was sold to PSV last season with a buyback clause, which PSG exercised over the weekend and it looks like they are sending him straight back on loan to RB Leipzig.

Fair play, me being lazy.

I think trying to replace Kane like-for-like is unrealistic. The important thing is not to bring in someone who can replicate Kane's output; it's that we evolve as a team. For example, Modric and Bale were never replaced, but we bought Dembele and Eriksen.

And, we got better as a team.

However there were bumps in the road.

Sky Sports as per usual seems desperate to get Kane to leave, this was taken from NewsNow where they originally had the Lloris story as Kane, and then updated it 1 min later to Lloris.

Yes, there were. And we might be better off dealing with those bumps now than in a year.

We don't have European football this year. Ange has loads of time to work with the team. I'm not sure it helps him to spend a year working with Kane only to have to reorganise the team again next season if Kane leaves.

I’d be more surprised if he stayed at this point to be honest. Feels like it’s all very professional and polite this time around but the vibe just really feels as if we are just waiting for the right offer

Bayern have shot themselves in the foot a bit with their very public courting, much like United do every year. They will have to end up paying a very high price or looking like fools

I change my mind on this daily but today I say if we get close to 100 million and he wants to go to Bayern we should sell him.

I just can’t see him wanting to go there, though, as I really think he wants that all time prem goal scorer record. I must be wrong though as you would’ve thought that Bayern has already confirmed Kane’s interest prior to meeting Levy or anything but it would still surprise me if he went there tbh.

If he doesn't sign a new contract this transfer window, he will go, can't see Levy letting him go for free or join another Premier League club.

The "would you rather he go to our rivals for nothing" doesn't really faze me: as we've seen with Poch, once someone's gone we can't dictate where he goes. There's absolutely nothing saying he goes to Bayern this summer, doesn't settle and Chelsea offer him an escape. He's here or he's not, basically.
