Bayern paid roughly €30-40 million for Lewangoalski, they are probably looking at Kane in a similar light thinking that a deal worth just over double that is more than fair enough.

I understand the angle, but it's not really correct to frame it like this as it's not the same at all as that. Of course we wouldn't do that, because you'd be left with 80m hole in your accounts a year down the line. As it is, Harry Kane doesn't owe Tottenham Hotspur a penny, never mind 70-80m. It's a false equivalence.

I agree; it's a false equivalence. But no matter how you frame it, we either end up with 70 or 80 million, or we don't. Just because we didn't buy Kane doesn't mean the club will be happy to let him leave for free.

The club bought Bale and Walker for relative pennies. But it's not like Levy entered into negotiations with Madrid and City with the mindset that we need to recoup the transfer fees we paid Southampton and Sheffield United with anything else being a bonus.

If, and it’s a big if, he stays this season I just wonder how much of a baring the family circumstances will dictate in twelve months time. If it was me would I be wanting to move location with another new child and the Mrs then move away from her friends and the family network that’s close by?
I wouldn’t expect my Mrs to uproot with three kids in tow as she’d be really lonely, it’d be hard enough with three kids but not having any mates around as well is a bit of an ask.

I see this kind of thing written regularly here, but footballers do this all the time.

Off the top of my head, I think Lloris and Perisic both have kids around the age of 9 or 10. I think Vertonghen had young kids when he left Spurs. Matt Doherty also has young children. They've all moved country or are expected to move country soon. Don't get me wrong, Kane could be the exception, but other footballers do it all the time, and no one stops to question it.

Well this is the issue . We have less than 3 weeks before we kick off the new season so unless this is sorted quickly like this week then we are going to be up against getting someone in that understands how we play and the players around him play .

Vlahovic is a workhorse without the ball, has 96 goals and 16 assists in 220 games and he's only 23. He's far more than just a big lump up top.

He's been playing in a ultra defensive Juve side. He has fantastic work rate, decent pace, technically sound, and he's still only 23. I think he would be good fit for Ange.

However, i'm one of those who is happy to give Richy a chance as our main striker, and use the Kane money for more of a versatile forward who can cover all three from positions - possibly someone like Jonathan David.

Richy isn't a good fit as a winger in Ange's system, but definitely has the attributes to play as the main striker - good work rate, movement etc... so rather than buy someone to block his opportunities of playing as a striker I would rather give him a chance in a position he proven he can excel in for his country.

Marcos Leonardo. That is my CF option. Intelligent, exceptional movement, good finisher and quite durable. Plays a lot on the shoulder

Probably wouldnt join until January but that may be okay.

In the meantime, spend heavily on a WF that can replace Son in a year or so time

A 10% chance is really low - and I suspect in reality, it's lower still

If we can reinvest it well (high risk) and get more out of the players we have (achievable, IMO), you can make a good case for it

It took over fifty years for a Spurs player to break Greaves's record, let alone a player the club produced itself. Kane may also be the first player to break Shearer's record, which has stood for nearly twenty years. The fact these records have stood so long is proof that players like Kane don't come around very often.

It's just nonsense, we will have new funds next year for new signings. We always have a budget for every window to work with. Any sales we make should just top this up. So sell Kane and spend the 100m more than we currently have. Keep Kane and next year we spend that year's budget towards a new forward. Actually get a few more key positions filled in this windows budget and there won't be many positions needed for next year anyway.
