This will split opinions, but I’d be very very happy with this.
Remember that it’s a buyback option, so we have complete control.

Say he goes to Bayern, wins 5-6 domestic trophies and maybe 1 champions league if he’s lucky.

Then in 2-3 years time, he comes back just in time for the Ange Project to be coming to its peak.

He comes back with the ‘trophy monkey’ off his back and potentially finally fires us towards lifting a few trophies of our own.

All while he breaks the all-time premier league scoring record wearing a Spurs shirt.

And in the mean time while he’s gone, Ange gets the foundation’s to build the project with new and hungry players all from the money we would get off of Bayern.

I know this is all very much ‘best-case scenario’, but hey, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming!

Wouldn't it be funny if he left and we won stuff and he never.

Harland won't be there long, 😄city and money.... Your worried that city won't spend.. Ahh bless you for worrying how a financially doped club spend their money😃
It is not the money. Where would Kane play in Pep's system and why will Haaland go somewhere in the next couple of years? I understand they have the money and would spend, but do not think Kane will go there and compete with Haaland for minutes when he can start anywhere else in the world.

I actually wouldn't mind it but let's be honest we know no matter however low it is enic and Levy probably wouldn't scrape the pennies together.

I'd rather have a sell-on clause, than a buy-back option, if I am being honest.

I don't begrudge Kane the opportunity to move to another team - that is his right. But, as a club, I think we are better when we look forward than backward.

If Kane wants to come back to Spurs - we don't need a buy back clause to make that happen.

The only crumb of comfort I take from if we sell Kane, is that it should hopefully ramp up the heat on Levy. Teflon Dan got away with it last season, but losing Kane (either this year or next), should hopefully turn the masses.

Yeah I reckon this debate could easily be a discussion that goes around in circles for the next week👎🏻😂

I will say that it is a super common team-building move in the NBA.

When your team just can’t compete, you go into rebuild mode and trade your best player/players in order to get new high potential pieces you can build your future around. A future where hopefully you can compete.

Seen this tweet which is an exaggerated, but somewhat relevant, example of this.

Honest question, and not meant as a ‘gotcha moment’ (particularly as I don’t know your answer!), but were you excited by the return of Bale?

And just on the last bit, I think the buyback clause would be more so there to stop us having to negotiate a fee with Bayern in 3 years.

Was I excited - no. At least not as most on here.

And, when he returned, it never really felt like Bale fit into the club. He was still a good player, but not the player who left for RM.

In 2-3 years, we will have a new squad dynamic, with different players - maybe Kane fits, but maybe he doesn't.

And if the club and Kane think he would be a good fit in 2-3 years - we don't need a clause now to make that happen. We have no idea what his value will be in 2-3 years, and I'd rather wait and see.

The likes of Klinsmann, Keane, Bale and Defoe all came back. I don't see the big deal. As long as the signing makes sense at the time. It would also be ideal if we're his only EPL team. That's what you want from one of your own. The likes of Iniesta, Messi and Busquets left abroad rather than play for another Spanish club. Ronaldo left and then when he returned went back to Utd. I would hate to see us line up against Kane in the league. If we make it so if he ever comes back it's to us that works for me.

Very fair points mate👍

I guess that will be the fundamental difference in opinions on this scenario, because it was probably the most excited that I’ve been for a transfer😂

What I will say though, is what is the actual issue with having the option available to us? We’d be under no obligation to take the option, so surely it would be only beneficial?

I'm not really bothered about having a buy-back clause, either. I was excited when we brought back Klinsmann, Keane, Defoe and Bale, but even at the best of times, second spells are usually a pale imitation of the first time around. Especially when players are coming towards the end of their careers at the top level.

I suppose, for example, someone could point to the goals Klinsmann scored to keep us up when he returned - but that sums it up, doesn't it? We were hardly in a good place when we brought him back. We don't really want to be in a position where we're desperate to buy an older, inferior Kane to save us from relegation.
