It’s really not that obviously a no brainer. The overall value of the deal is going to be at least 200m. And Just because some players play well into their 30s doesn’t mean they all do. Most have a drop off from 30 onwards. It is, at least, more of a risk.
I personally don’t think it’s a coincidence that only one club has really come in for him at this valuation. On a free next year then it is much less of a risk.
@KingNick I have absolutely no fucking idea what you are disagreeing with at this point. Nothing I’ve written it even remotely debatable. If you think Kane’s game won’t age well please explain why

This thread gets worse by the hour. We’re no better with Kane and better off without him & the funds it brings, some of you really are deluded

Agreed the deluded among us are the ones that think making no money on Kane in January 2024 is better than making eighty odd million on him this month.

I was thinking before and I do think EVEN if we had won titles during this era, Kane would probably still leave.

It is incredibly rare for a player to stay at one club his entire career.

Even if he was at City sweeping everything up, I reckon he would have entertained the idea of playing in another country.

I suppose Giggs and Scholes are a great example of staying put but they also dwindled a bit at around 30 so probably were seen as key voices at United and less appealing options for other clubs.

But there are plenty of examples of players wanting to leave their club after a long period as they had just achieved all they could there

Disagree because it allows Postecoglou to gain greater control of the squad and turn in his direction.

I am not saying Kane is an issue, he isn't at all, but the players won't hide behind one player and it allows Age to become the key voice for them.

It may be problematic if we are here in January and United or City are now getting linked to Kane and Postecoglou is trying to bat away questions and ensure the squad doesn't get affected by it.

This is essentially a clean break.

Yeah I struggle to imagine a world where Kane doesn't do well at Bayern, unless Tuchel does something incredibly weird tactically.

Think Kane's the one who's much more likely to regret it down the line if he doesn't win the Champions League there and then isn't able to catch Shearer's record when he inevitably returns to England when he's 34/35. He'll be very happy to just win a bunch of trophies, though, even if they're basically guaranteed.
Not just Shearers record, I think he will end up regretting not winning honours in his own country, the place where he worked his trade the most.

Yeah I've absolutely no faith in Levy or the club getting a proper replacement.

He won't invest that money back into the squad.
I feel the same i’ve zero faith in Levy, to invest it wisely or invest it fully at all. I’ve completely given up on him I just want him gone.

Nearly everything you have said is debatable. From the wrong idea about how much the deal is worth this year to next to your speculation as to what level he might be capable of playing at despite being beyond 30 over the next 5 years.

Especially as by time this deal is finalised, there will be a short period of the transfer window left.

No one knows how far advanced the sale of Kane is, and no one knows if the club have allocated that transfer fee in other areas of the team, be that another striker (likely) and a centre back(s).

I would guess that if Kane is going then the club will have possibly held pre-contract talks with a replacement and other positions?

I know that Levy isn't goinhg to get a Christmas card from many in here, but credit where it's due he's not stupid enough to have eighty odd million rattling around in his pocket unspent come PL kick off day.

So what has actually happened today? FWIW Kane will go and we won’t properly reinvest. ENIC are purely maximising their profits now having harvested the stadium. We will get a forward who will be ok and 2 average CB and that will be that.

Man Utd has won 2 Premier Leagues, 1 Fa Cup, 2 Carabao Cups, and a Europa League since Ronaldo left in 2009.

Arsenal has won 4 FA cups since Henry left.

I'd bite my hand off for a fraction of that success.
It's all relative to the success prior, in both cases this is a steep decline compared to the trophies won with said players

Bayern are not investing the equivalent of nearly £200m to win Bundesliga. They are not breaking their policy of offering multi-year deals to 30-yo players to win Bundesliga.

They are CL or bust with this deal, and I think it would take multiple CLs to justify the price.

My prediction is that Bayern fall short of their goals, Kane will not lead them to a CL trophy, and will be viewed as a waste of money by the end of his contract. I think Kane will regret chasing rainbows, when he discovers what he lost in leaving Spurs.

But again - I completely understand why Bayern want Kane and why Kane wants Bayern. I just happen to think it will end in tears, and not joyful ones.

But who knows, according to some I don’t know anything about football, so I would not get too worked up over it.

I understand the sentiment that no one is bigger than the club, and we move on, but the fact we have failed our greatest goalscorer, a man who loves the club, a player from our academy, one of our own, and not even won ONE trophy with him hurts so bad, it's pathetic really

I think you are correct in that if he goes there that will be the outcome. i don’t think they will win the champions league with him or without him. But that’s just my opinion.

All on Levy, yet another utter failure on his watch.
