Only thing that concerns me is that we seem to be in a position where we HAVE to sell Kane to sign 2 CB’s that we should’ve been signing regardless of whether he leaves or not.

How can a club of our size and stature still be in a financial state where we need to sell a player for £80+ million just to sign players of the same value? Keeping in mind that Villa are signing players without any major sales.

This week will be interesting, I’m sure we will have more clarity by the end of it.
What’s crazy is we have exactly 2 weeks until our first PL game yet we haven’t bought 1 defender despite having an appalling defence. On top of that, as you say, literally everything has ground to a halt as we wait to see if Kane and PEH are sold. Hypothetically what if neither is sold? Are we not going to buy anyone else? Yes I know Kane will very likely go but still, one does wonder because that certainly seems to be the case.

We are getting very close to that point of having to write off the first few games whilst we sort out the last bit of business that needed doing day one of the window. That’s not even being defeatist, I’m just being realistic based on past experience. New players, especially ones from abroad, always need time to adjust. Looking at the way we plan to play, our current defence will get decimated by any team semi competent.

Tbh I’m sorta beyond caring at this point, it’s pretty clear Levy and the board don’t care so it feels like waisted energy. I’m just going to try and enjoy the inevitable mess for what it will likely be, ie very attacking football with high scoring games. At least it will be entertaining even if we dont really challenge for anything.

So, you are now comparing us to a club who make a lot more than us?

If people are calm, then they are levy apologists?

Again, its another thread being railroaded into a levy debate.

If we keep kane, and he goes on a free, you'll be the first to talk about how it's amateurish that we've let him go on a free. I get the impression that you talk a lot about how things should be done, what experience do you have in running such organisations?
Well we're not replacing him so yes Id rather have him another year and let him go on a free. The option seems to be two CBS and sell kane or 1 and don't. I'd rather keep him and sign one CB.

Levy needs to get his arse in gear and sell Sanchez, dier and hojbjerg and we can sign another Cb any way.

I personally don't care about the club getting record fees for players I care more about the players I see on the pitch. Especially for record ticket prices.

Kane could put in his personal terms that Bayern must accept 80 mill from an English club after a year. No way we can stop that.
This is just nonsense talk now. First off Bayern aren't going to sign him under those terms. Second why on earth would Kane do that? I mean if he has doubts about the move he'll just leave in a year for free to any English team he likes.

Its insane to me that Solomon and Maddison is supposed to be somewhat of a replacement and a start of our rebuild without our argubly our biggest star ever. If Levy was planing to build something great he would insted have gone to Napoli and said "Okey you guys want Lo celso we can give you 70m euro and Lo celso for kvaratskhelia then we would be able to move Son into a 9, prolong his career and make our rebuild around Kvaratskhelia, Maddison and Romero. Napoli wont be able to keep for much longer anyway, but levy is levy.

Not sure in what universe Kvara comes to us right now, but more than happy to move to that one given the opportunity.

if it wasn’t clear before, I certainly expect no incomings until Kane leaves 🤦🏼‍♀️
I would be surprised if we didn't announce at least a high level signing before selling Kane. We'll get a deal agreed but I expect at least a signing or 2 first. Similar to when we sold Bale. I guess that would be the big giveaway that we've agreed to sell him when we spend a fair amount of money.

Imagine we get to this time next week and there’s no more clarity on this and we’re still sitting on our hands for incomings, CB news etc…
I think if we don’t have clarity and movement this week everyone will go mad haha

Agree with a large chunk of this post! What I will say is that the Kane situation has shafted us in terms of the "speed" of getting more players in. I've got numerous beefs with Levy over the years but regardless of the mistakes he has made....I don't think anyone else would be handling the situation better than him - currently - in terms of dealing with Bayern and their ongoing antics over Kane.

The fly in the ointment is that I think that we haven't signed anyone further as the players we want/can get /want to go after differ on whether Kane (and PEH) stay or go -so we have 2 lists. I strongly sympathise with the view that we should have at least got one CB in by now, it being a hugely pressing need, and that we should definitely be getting 2 in during the window. However - if there are other more expensive , quality options on the shortlist and if Kane is sold we can get them too (Im hypothetically thinking if we got both Laporte AND Tapsoba without saying there is any evidence that we will!) then that may be why we haven't pulled the trigger on Van de Ven yet?

We also don't know how much the prospective selling clubs are hindering things. There's certainly a strong possibility that its not all down to us at all, even if Levy is meddling again.

In relation to the most recent ITK - I wouldn't be opposed to using the Kane money to get 2 quality CBs IF it also meant we get a quality young striker to compete with Richy - not just another very young prospect....OR a quality young player who can play across the front 3.

I do feel we need to start shifting some players soon also as this is really hindering this. Sadly - we know that some of them simply aren't good enough and while they WILL go (preferably sales for most -with loans for people like Gil and potentially Ndombele if Lo Celso stays).....this is more likely to happen in the last 10 days of the window - as all sides start to be more flexible/willing to deal. I'm also not going to pin the delay in shifting players on Levy - yet - at all - as we have had a lot of ITK that Ange's choice was to keep everyone to assess them first, and we have only just returned from the tour.

When do we play Shaktar, is it Saturday? Atmosphere in the stadium should be interesting...

I would not say that.

If we can't sign anyone else unless we sell Kane - then we need to sell Kane.

So, Levy, or any chairman, should have made that a priority - meet with Kane, find out. where he is willing to go - then meet with those teams, and set a reasonable price, and get the deal done - a month ago.

If we can sign other players - then we should have already done so. The fact that its Levy, and not a DOF, working on this has been a detriment to the club.

Kane is the biggest asset this club has. The idea that Levy wouldn't be involved in a deal like this - even if we had a DOF -is a fantasy - due to the huge implications for club profile, marketing, merchandise etc. That stuff MATTERS I'm afraid given the size of the club - despite some (not you) arguing that the stadium and wider business doesn't matter and it should be like the "good old days", jumpers for goalposts in training, players down the pub after the game with the fans etc etc

I'm one of Levy's biggest critics and am ENIC as out as much as anyone but am not going to rabidly blame him for EVERYTHING like some do on here, even though I want him away from all footballing matters ASAP.

Your response doesn't really address my post.... I was talking about the ability to sign other players...

Every summer it’s the same. It’s beyond a joke now. It’s almost like he’s trolling us.

We’re setting up yet another manager to fail.

I bet you he'll spend money (not as much as we'd like, but some) once he knows how much he has to spend.

It's infuriating, we miss player opportunities who get snapped up elsewhere, we lose our preseason prep, and we often end up with third or fourth choices if we get anyone at all...all while undermining a succession of managers...but the reason it doesn't improve is exactly because he's not trolling...he thinks he's doing the right thing.

That's why it's time for him to go. Not because he's evil, but because he's wrong.

Just hope that this time tomorrow there's more clarity. Really hoping Bayern stump up the required cash tbh
