Ask yourself, if Kane is leaving......why would any decent CF come here?
We dont (and never have) pay the wages....
We dont win anything
We're not in Europe

One of the reasons Maddison came to us, was because we offered more wages than Newcastle.

Yeah meeting obviously happening today where I think it's likely they will strike a deal for Kane. As has been mentioned before, they like to finalise the deal in person so speaks volumes they're both flying across for the meeting today.

Richarlison has impressed Ange in pre season and he feels he can bag plenty of goals for him so I would say the likelihood is we bring both VdV & Tapsoba in followed by an exciting young talent who can play across the front three.
There’s no point having a succession plan (Richarlison) if you’re not going to give it a shot. The replacement should be the next succession plan etc etc and the cycle continues.
I’m quite happy with this approach - but my guess is Alex Scott will be the attacking buy (for lots of reasons) and that’s not succession planning

Arsenal, Newcastle and Man Utd played with inferior center-forwards, last season and finished above us.

We need to stop relying on one player, regardless of who he is.
100% if we get this right there could be some real benefits to our new look better all-round balanced side.

No great team should ever have to over rely on one player.

If we can get goal contributions from: Richy, Son, Maddison, Lo Celso, Kulu, Solomon and a new young talent RW/ST + small contributions from Bentancur, the full backs and CB's then we will be better all-round for it.

We will also be much harder to play against as under Conte and Jose if you stop Kane and Son we offered zero threat, now teams will have to stop all sorts of different creative and attacking dynamic threats.

I'm choosing to see the positive side of this situation, IF we get the recruitment right following a Kane sale which would need 2x top CB's and 1x top attacking player ideally a fast RW who can also cover ST.

Get those 3 in and I think we are on for a very exciting season.

So we'll be replacing Kane with players we should have been signing regardless of whether he stays or leaves, then. Excellent. Expected nothing less.
This cannot be stated enough.

This is not a win for us under any circumstances because we'll end up buying the type of players we should have bought to show Kane our ambition.

Are we supposed to believe that we're so skint, we have to sell our star player to be able to afford decent defenders?
Just like when we were at WHL which then begs the question, what is the point of the new stadium to the club and the fans?

A short while ago we are all buzzing after the first friendly, with dreams of what's to come.
Two weeks later and Levy has pissed all over those dreams, yet again.

Can’t understand this take for two reasons:

1. Kane has always said that he would be happy to stay here, as long as he felt the team were competitive. As others have said, it’s Levy’s fault that it’s come to this, not Kane’s.

2. The transfer will 100% be made up of add-ons based off of Bayern winning trophies, so would be a big financial knock to us if he was to win nothing.
I don’t blame Kane for going, i’m just not that bothered that he is. As a fan I’m also less bothered about potentially missing out on €10-€15 million in add ons.

I agree to an extent .

The best case scenario would be to bring the rest of the team upto Kane's standard surely.

Getting him out of the country along with a fee rather than face him potentially leaving on a free to a rival next season is the best outcome here. Good to resolve this.

It depends: if we don't have the cash, we don't have the cash.

We do have a massive debt pile to pay back after all, and our net spend over the last 5 years has been quite high, and generally on sh*t players. So you could make an argument that we're not in a perfect place.

Honestly, I'm not saying it's the case one way or the other - personally I have no idea at all - but you could understand if we didn't have the spare cash.

100%. Especially one player that:
- we would only have for one year at best anyway
- we would lose for nothing if we kept him that year
- doesn't seem a perfect fit for the managers system
- we have a ready made replacement for...albeit yes, obviously not as good

By all means, a succession plan should be given a chance to work before being canned. If Richarlison was signed as Kane's successor, then the owners gave up on convincing Kane to stay long before now, so it would be extremely disappointing if that's the case (irrespective of how well Richarlison goes on to do).

I had hoped Richarlison was signed as a back-up CF who could also play alongside Kane and provide an extra option on the wings. Last summer, if it had been clear that Richarlison was being signed as Kane's successor, most fans would have been outraged. Following a season where Richarlison only scored on PL goal, it should be expected that fans will be even less happy with this succession plan now than they would have been last summer.

Except we are one of the most profitable sports teams in the world. We have the money. We're just choosing not to spend it, for whatever reason.

BS

Son, LLoris and Kane and worked their way up to the top of the Pile.
Ndombele is a bum and isn;t on that money, which has been confirmed before.
its well known we DONT pay top dollar.
Hence why we've all been on here for 15\20 years crying about players choosing other clubs.....even when they were NOT in europe.

We don't pay more than clubs that have bigger revenues than us. But apart from that we have the 5th or 6th biggest wage bill in league. Our wage bill has increased since our revenues have increased (this info is easily searchable if you google it)

Either way it's not the place to discuss so i'll leave it there.

Yes, but Arsenal managed to sign some quality players when they were nowhere near CL.

Offer the right money and other than the truly world class players (who we can't afford and who are already at bigger teams anyway) most will consider coming....

Also if you offer a decent vision of where envisage the club going.

“Okay okay, I get it you want champions league, but what if I tell you we are putting a go-kart track in the stadium basement?”

I've already explained this! He has a fetish for Lederhosen, Reisling and sloppy sausages.
Well then he will fail.
Bavaria is reknown for its Beer.

If It's Riesling he wanted, he should have joined Frankfurt or Mainz.

I think the plan was the play Richy alongside Kane and instead of him last season. But with one eye on the fact if Kane leaves he can step in as a replacement.

Fact is in Ange's system Richy is a perfect striker but doesn't fit his profile for a winger. It would be ridiculous to consign him to the bench again after spending £60m on him last season.
