Especially with reports during the week that he was happy to stay. There is no sugar coating it. The club wants Bayern's money.

It's really not that simple though is it.

Kane has wanted to move for the last 3 seasons. He wants to win the Ballon D'or. He wants to be winning league titles and champions leagues now. He is never going to sign another contract with us even if we win the carabao cup.

I can imagine just out of respect for Kane, Levy has agreed to meet with Bayern and told Kane if they pay what we want then he can leave. If it was simply about the money we would have sold him to Man City a couple of seasons back.

I'm sure Kane would have maintained his professionalism if Bayern didn't pay up, and obviously at one stage it looked like they weren't, so reports saying he was happy to stay was just PR from his side just in case the move didn't happen and there were acusations of him not being committed etc...

Yeah but, while it would be very very funny and great for us to keep him for another season, he really should've communicated his feelings better with Spurs and Bayern over the past 2 weeks if he was having doubts.

It's an absolute farce if he decides to just turn down the offer after the amount of time and energy wasted negotiating from both parties. Incredibly naive and unprofessional from Charlie Kane (unsurprisingly) but from Kane also.

Indeed. I can't think of a transfer of this magnitude going this far only for the player to have a change of heart.

If he turns this transfer down now he has to save face and sign a new contract. He could have said he wanted to stay a week ago.

Not saying its not a factor.

But its nowhere near as big a factor as it is for the other 99.99% of us out there. Hes moving to germany not Australia.

This is one of the problems i have with these comparisons. People are acting like Kane is an ordinary person. They're ignoring that Kane will probably be making in a single month (in real terms) more than they will make in their whole working lives. Even someone on a very respectable 100k a year would take something like twenty years to earn what Kane will be earning in a month.

It’s going to be such a downer If we lose our first game of the season just after selling our best player.

That is oversimplistic. You have no evidence the reports are real. Sports journalists can generally talk shit all day long because sport doesn't matter so they rarely need to provide sources to their legal department.

And the only way the club can protect itself against Kane leaving for free is either to have a cast iron guarantee that he will sign a new contract or sell him now.

Before next summer the club would have between now and Jan to try and sort a new deal, then January to either get some money for him or lose him on a pre-contract to a non-PL side. And let's be honest, people care a lot more about him leaving the league rather than the actual money.

Yes money is a big factor in many decisions both at club and player level, but for me Kane either chooses to go now, or if he declines he plans to stay either long term or sign a short term deal that puts us in no worse position other than his increasing age.
I simply don't see him wanting to destroy his legacy with Spurs and walk away on a free, to what would likely be a competing PL club. He has always given the view that yes whats important for him and his family matters but also the club has a big importance to him.

I have an interview today, this is horrible for my preparation
Good luck. One question they'll probably ask is whether you're prepared to be back up to Richarlison, and wait for your opportunity to be part of the front three?

I remember when we sold Bale we just lost the NLD and within about 15 minutes after the final whistle going it was announced.

This club.

Remember Harry Kane wanted to go to Man City a couple of seasons ago and Daniel wouldn't let him. They did the Treble last year. It would be top trolling if Kane made Levy work all window to squeeze every last penny out of the Bayern deal and just as he gets his tiny grasping hands on the pot of gold Harry pulls the rug out from under him and shouts "Psych!" :troll:

The lack of follow up ITK is confusing. And does point to a difficult decision being deliberated - which itself suggests some real doubt having now crept in for whatever reason.

according to Mr Spamhead, all personal terms are fully agreed and Kane has given his full commitment to BM. But if that were really the case, surely we’d have more info now regarding him travelling to Germany for a medical - or even an official “fee agreed subject to medical/personal terms” announcement. Or even just a “no chance he’s staying”.

Cant speak for Kane himself but you see these guys travel hundreds of miles for a haircut, or pay for their barber to come to them, pay their chefs to basically live in etc etc.

Kane has his brother as his agent for crying out loud. If he wants to have his extended family and friends around him i have no doubt he will make it happen without issue.

When the interviewer asks do you have any questions at the end ask them what they think of the whole saga :playful:

Seriously though, good luck!
I actually got a job when I discovered my new boss was a massive spurs fan and we talked spurs for most of my interview it was the start of the Poch era and I’m still here now!

I think Levy and Bayern have been so intent on trying to get ‘one over the other’ in this deal they’ve taken their eyes off who really holds the cards!

Spurs (financially) and Bayern could both miss out big time here because they’re messed Harry and his family around.

As for us fans, we could get one more season with our Legend. It could be horrendous watching him go to another EPL team for free at the end of the season but we’ll just have to deal with that grief when it happens!

Fingers crossed Harry stays 😀

No one knows mate, I wouldn’t expect anyone to rush to put their bollocks on the line either, given the swings this week.
