Yeah, I can see all of that and the financial logic especially given what I do for a living……however, to have had him play and a train a full pre-season and then sell such a consequential player a couple of days before the season starts is in my opinion inexcusable, if not a little predictable

Would a buyout clause of say 40-50m not also keep his options open? I'd be stunned if the rest of the top clubs in the PL, Madrid, Barca, PSG, Bayern etc. were not willing to pay that kind of price for him in a year. He'd still be in control of his future.

Some of them probably would, but surely they would prefer not to, and maybe have even told him not to sign another contract.

Something tells me Kane has used Bayern here. Maybe to get that chequebook out of Levy's pocket to invest in the squad or maybe he's angling for a free transfer next summer.

I just don't think Harry would do us fans like that so I'm more inclined towards the ENIC investment and will commit to us... eventually.

This time last year Kane had already packed up his house and was on the brink of joining City. Obviously the deal fell through but he still lost his house and had to find another property. It’s safe to say he hasn’t done the same this year.

You have to think somebody has had a word in his ear and has tapped him up for next summer. That has to be a likely scenario - though also he may just want to see how it pans out with Ange but I think we would need to do something very special this season for him to sign a new contract.

I agree - think he may realise all of the stated difficulties in moving so late - and I just bet there have been smoke signals from others in the wings.

To be clear: I don't begrudge him anything at all - he's earned it.

Would also explain why, perhaps, Levy is so desperately trying to get some money for him - as I think he's off one way or the other...

All good boss! Servers holding out like Kane is holding onto Spurs by the skin of his teeth.

Some of you are really confusing me, quite a few of you seem to have rose tinted glasses on as far as him staying this season is concerned. It's almost like you are happy for him that he is going to go on a free to whomever he wants next summer and not realise what it would do to this season.

Ange's back is against the wall anyway with the strength of the league, there is no way we are having anything close to a settled season if he runs his contract down. Even if we are going well, the bigger clubs are going to hammer us with Media drivel about him all season long. It will destabilise us all season, that isn't even taking into account that he would be scoring against us when he breaks the Record - imagine that, in Chelsea Blue the goal he breaks the record with is against us.

Levy has numerous faults, but I am totally with him in that if he doesn't sign on then it would be much, much better he went to Bayern now.

I think Levy has called Kane's bluff here big time.

Yeah I think the meltdown when he leaves to United or whoever will be much, much worse than him leaving to Bayern now.

I'll be happy if he stays and this season will be a lot more fun but it will be so goddamn miserable on here leading up to next summer unless we have an absolutely incredible season and by some miracle he agrees to sign another proper extension (surely sub 5% chance).

I'm so torn about it all. Feel like there are massive positives and negatives to both sides, but the absolute biggest negative of them all the outcomes is him leaving to another PL club for free. And god forbid he gets injured if he stays...
