How am I saying its 100% gospel? I'm just pointing out that someone appeared not to have given it any credence at all.

It is true though that on that particular piece of ITK i do believe it was completely correct.
But its also true a deal aint a deal untill its done.. Look at all the backward and forwards just over the last 18hrs.
If the deal had broken down and Harry had had hardly any pre season people would be saying it was negligence not to play him

I'm pretty sure Vlahovic is young too, could easily argue he's not at his potential yet
Funny how people 2 summers ago were happy to replace a £120m Kane with a £66m Vlahovic but now potentially replacing a £100m + £20m Kane with a £50m Vlahovic is ludicrous. I understand that he hasn't done well at Juventus but that's more Allegri's fault than his own...

This is an irrational view, so presumably you have a strong view about Levy etc.

We can't sell a player without another club making the offer.
We also can't indicate to buying clubs that we are holding players back for them because it strengthens their negotiating position.

These things are extremely obvious.
That’s why I said a deadline should have been set for before we went on tour. Pay up or fuck off. Clearly the football team wasn’t the premier thing in the mind of the decision makers though.

What do people expect Ange to do?! Announce to the world that we have £100m+ to spend on incomings?! We will 100% bring in at least 2 more players, my guess is 3. And we will move a good few out of the door
Will the new money we have change those targets? Because it was essentially floated we would bring in a forward and a CB regardless of the Kane outcome.

That's fine but you are choosing to ignore some of the most reliable ITKs on this site that the deal was agreed in principle the day before the Shakhtar match.
In principle and in detail are quite different, no? There have been negotiations widely reported all the way up to last night

He's gone so I don't care about that anymore we just need to move on now and I'm glad to hear this and hope we've got suitable replacements lined up and not just young punts

Great post. We will score goals in this new system but we surely need a new wide forward or striker now. Richi is often injured and not prolific, Son IMO is on a steep decline, Kulusevski needs to recapture his form, and Solomon looks promising but I doubt anyone saw him as a starter, at least for now.

Yeah so this is why people are concerned, I think Ange's comment leads me to believe that there is still business to be done in how he worded it but I think we was hopeful it was going to be 1 more cb and perhaps an coup with Gift Orban but now it's become a necessity and as you say perhaps an additional winger. I said the other day that Kane was our playmaker and striker and somebody pointed out that Maddison sorts that, they were correct and it's been backed now but yeah, the hope is that the attackers combine to replace Kane but I think we was hoping they'd combine with him and Maddison.

So as you say we now probably are looking for more, unless it's Vlahovic or a player I've not heard of, I don't know what to hope for, I'm not knowledgeable on good targets.

Someone wake me when he's gone and all this arguing has come to an end.
This arguing is a necessary part of the grieving process. It'll soon pass, hopefully moving on to resentment (at Levy, not H).

Jesus, some people just love misery.
Ange said nothing about already spending the Kane money, he just said they'd planned for such an outcome.

It would be pretty negligent not to do that, especially seeing as though Ange already had an idea Kane would be off.

He just talking about being prepared for life without Kane and planning for that, not that the spending we've done was only because we knew we were getting a big wedge for Kane.

Let's just see what the window gives us before wallowing too much because so far, it hasn't actually been that bad.

In fact, I was just chatting with my lad and we were kinda struggling to see where we could spend the money.
Tapsoba (or similar) and another bright young striker was about all we could come up with, unless there are a few more departures.
We're not spending big on another striker with Richy at the club, so we need an understudy for him at least. Maybe share those minutes between Veliz and someone like Orban?

Going to be an interesting few weeks, especially when considering that Ange does seem to like working with and improving young players.

Vlahovic would be as good as we could hope for

The players on the transfer list are worth at least £50m combined. And players like Sessegnon and Gil who are injured are players we can shift in January and we could easily generate another £30m.

No reason we shouldn't be spending another £150m or so this window.
The players on the transfer list are worth whatever someone is prepared to pay, and currently that is nothing.
And someone taking them off our hands for nothing is worth a significant in saved cost.

What looked most likely last sunday morning to the club? Kane leaving, quite clearly. So what would make most sense, give him the minutes or Scarlett or Son in a different position and someone else at LWF? Could easily have delayed Kane's minutes until the Barcelona match (although by then it was even clearer that he was off and so we could have avoided wasting minutes on him at all)

Once again we're going into the season with a big gap in the squad and with total disruption behind the scenes, where we were somehow learning how to play Postecoglou's new system with a star striker everyone involved knew would likely be off.

The most important thing this window was setting up Postecoglou for success, to give him the best chance possible. I realise he knew what was happening from the start, but there's no way he can be happy with Kane leaving fucking two days before our first PL game, and leaving a huge hole in the team.

Don't start calling out one of the most balanced posters on here as dense because he's calling it how he see's it. he's consistently defended Levy and the club decisions and done so with fair point. He then calls this situation how he see's it, which adds value to how he consistently defends Levy because it shows he's willing to look at each situation as he comes and you call him dense? Nah I'm not having that.

Perhaps Tucker understands the value of a pre-season may be greater both on the football pitch and even in financial terms as better performances early on may lead to financial reward. It's a completely reasonable argument to make.
I have no problems with @Tucker's opinions in general, however suggesting we shouldn't have taken Kane on tour because of one comment that Ange has made is incredibly daft.

There was absolutely no guarantee this transfer was going to happen until late last night. Why would we risk losing Kane for the entire pre-season and potentially have him not match-sharp until September just because he might have been moving to Bayern? There's absolutely zero logic and it grates on me that anyone thinks that would have been a realistic possibility.

From Sky Germany...

"We are all waiting for Harry Kane now in the Bundesliga! Everything was prepared for him landing this morning but the private flight was cancelled.

"Bayern is very well prepared for the arrivals for superstars. He would be picked up at the private airport in Munich with a red car, a very specific red car which picks up all players from the private airport. Then they would travel for 30 minutes into the city centre to a specific hospital where he could pass the first part of his medical. Bayern Munich is 100 per cent prepared for the medical.

Setting a deadline would have been perfectly reasonable.

100%!? I find that very hard to believe considering who’s in charge of our club.

Levy setting a deadline would have been meaningless because as soon as someone waved 100m in front of him he would accept it anyway rather than to lose him for free next year.
