It's beautiful to see so many on here share what Kane has meant to them as Spurs fans; how he has helped connect fathers, daughters, and fans in general. It is also weirdly sweet to see how hurt many of us are, because it's proof of our collective love for the club – which is always going to be bigger than the one player.
Simultaneously, it is sad that in today's football, even top role model-family man-one of our own Harry Kane values the personal accolades more than being a one club man. Many players win a lot of club titles, almost none become the very fabric of the club they came from. A Bundesliga title or whatever (or even a CL title) will never carry the same weight as that would have done, if he had stayed.
He will obviously still be a Spurs legend (he already is), but he could have become the one name to rise above all the others, throughout the rest of the club's history. I won't judge him as a person for leaving, but I will mourn that part of football, which truly seems to be dead, even though it is bigger than everything else.
