Yeah will never know and I’m talking out my arse as much as the next fan I just think we are Spurs, we’re not city or Madrid or one of the elite clubs players like Kane, Modric and Bale want. Would wining the FA cup last season had made Kane sign an extension? Would winning the league cup and finishing 3rd, 8 points behind first changed his mind? I seriously doubt it tbh.
100% agree. He made his mind up 2 seasons ago that he wanted to move on from Spurs. Don’t think a couple of league cups/FA cups in between that time would have changed that. It’s football. Ronaldo was winning the lot at Utd - still didn’t stop him wanting Madrid.

Being the ultimate professional he is, it’s all part of being as super prepared as possible for the Euros at the end of the season. 😉

Yeah sorry the £500 million was a tad hyperbolic. In reality we would’ve neeeded to spend probably half that (something we wouldn’t have ever done) and even then, more importantly, I honestly don’t think it would’ve made much difference unless we really struck lucky with our recruitment and 80% of our signings were a success. I just see it as totally unrealistic, no matter what we spent, that we would’ve really seriously challenged for the league and CL (I know we got to a final under poch and half a title challenge but as I say Kane would need more than just challenge) He, as proved now, needs elite top end trophies and that’s something that, in all likelihood, we never would’ve been able to give him.
Yeah, I don't disagree - I guess I'm thinking more about Spurs than Kane really. I think we could quite achievably have been better than we were and would subsequently now be better than we are. I feel that we never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

I'm really trying not to dent anyone else's optimism about the 'new era', but having failed to make the most of Kane, having failed to properly back Poch, Jose, Nuno, Conte, I just don't see how the massage will have a happier ending this time around.

Optimism and hope are such important parts of enjoying sport. I have of late, wherefore I know not, lost mine and that's not so much to do with Kane as the other major player in this saga - it's been this way for me for a while. A whole lotta numb. Interested but not invested in our fortunes this season.

Agreed. I do think he is slightly different to bale and Modric in the fact he probably cares for us a little bit more and that’s why he gave us a few more years than other players of his calibre would have but as you say it got to the point a couple of years ago with the whole city debacle where I think his mind was made up, anything short of a league and/or CL win wouldn’t of been enough.

I fell you bro. But hey, rugby World Cup soon and there’s loads to be optimistic about from a Wales/England perspective so there’s that.

Best of luck Harry.

Negatives: I didn’t like the interview with Neville which was clearly an attempt to move. And missing training was ****y. But all of that was forgiven after your performances since.

Positives:

He’s been here almost 20 years.
He could’ve left years ago before he signed the 6 year contract.
He’s our record goal scorer.
He captained his country whilst with us.
He broke the record with England whilst with us.
He’s gone to another country so we don’t have to watch him play us.
We got £100M for him.
He’s given us countless moments of ecstasy by scoring regularly against Arsenal.

Absolutely no bitterness my end. It wasn’t a surprise in the end so it’s not hitting as hard as it could, though that may change when seeing him play for Bayern. It’s Enic who have basically let him down and not the other way around. I hope he smashes it for Bayern and wins everything possible (even though I prefer Dortmund), before coming back to us in some capacity. I don’t know if we’ll need a 33 year old striker if we’re still playing the kind of football Ange plays in a few years time but as long as he doesn’t go to a London rival then I’ll always love him for what he’s done for us.

In the meantime, see you in the CL final next season :sneaky:

Hurts a lot. Saw the pics of him in a Bayern shirt at the MCG, and then the rubbish score review system robbed my AFL team of a last minute win , so it's been a shit one all round.

Props to Harry for learning from 2021 and handling this like a professional. He's not overly charismatic or personable, but there was feeling behind that video. Will be bizarre to not have him around anymore, but I'm very grateful it happened for so long.

Thanks for the ride, H. Bon voyage.

He literally says in his farewell video that he wants prove himself at the highest level. The highest level consists of 4-5 clubs.

He clearly wants to play for one of the true elite clubs that have fair shot at winning domestic titles and the CL every year.

Personally I don’t believe simply being in the mix is good enough for Kane at this stage of his career.
It still baffles my mind how people cannot see way Bayern is a great move for him.

Yes the league can be a bit of cakewalk. But it is one of the very biggest clubs in the world.

I keep using this example but look at what moving to Bayern did for Lewandowski.

Scores bucket loads domestically yes but he was doing that in the CL as well and winning/running close to CL titles and Balon D'ors

He simply cannot do that at Tottenham even if we were much better (fighting for PL titles).

When the truly big boys come calling, players know its a chance to become one of the very best.

Remember what Jose Said to Kane in the AON doc?

No bitterness at all there’s a few things that didn’t sit well however, I’d stay that’s a reflection on weakness from different managers as much as anything from Kane. He’s been a great servant to us. I find the move to Bayern weak from his pov rather than holding on for a massive club like Madrid for free.

All the best, I’m not goin to pretend to be interested in German football, I’ll watch Bayern if they make the latter stages of the champions league that’s about it.

Not ashamed to say I couldn't get through his video message without sobbing. Gonna miss him so much. Thank you Harry for everything.

Bad form to have the England captain playing abroad. Strip him and give it to Maguire as punishment

Bookies have him odds on to be top Bundesliga scorer. Not sure he'll beat Levandowski's best season of 41 in 29 games, but he'll walk it.

I don't know why but I'm really not worried about this. Yes he was a great goalscorer and an absolute club legend, but I really don't see this as being the end of the world. If anything I think it may benefit the team as a whole and create a more fluid, dynamic team without the talisman. I certainly won't miss the panic that comes when he inevitably gets injured during the season and we don't have a suitable replacement because nobody wants to be Kane's backup, or him stepping up to take every freekick, or the media calling us a one man team. Easy to remember the good things but there were plenty of bad.

Everybody can stress and say that we will struggle without him but the fact of the matter is that we were never a winning team with Kane anyway. Whatever the reason, we couldn't win with him. So we do the same thing we did when we lost Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Carrick etc and we build and try again. Massive thanks and respect to Kane but the club lives on.

It will be moved back to Spurs Chat in 4 years

Kane could play until he is 38 easily as his game isn't about pace
It's not just pace that goes. It's other factors. Fitness will drop, reaction time, speed of thought. Even the slower paced players still lose pace. Getting Your shots off just that little bit slower and all that. You just lose that little bit in your mind and at the top level when it's the small percentages that make the difference this matters. Not to say he won't be playing then. I don't think his body type suits playing till then either personally. Time well tell :)
