Pretty honest article, not really sure why people still have a problem with him... He had an insane year, funny really as you'd give players a break if they had surgery and a court case in a season but he wasn't cut much slack was he.

Still the best manager we've had in god knows how long and the points and performances proved that. What's done is done but the guy deserves respect from spurs fans for what he achieved.

Redknapp put Modric left wing to begin with did he not? Bullshit can baffle brains? It certainly does harry, it certainly does

This stood out to me as well.

He did put Modric on the left side of midfield to start with and that's where he thrived. In that position Modric adapted to the league and started playing superbly.

It was then forced upon him by circumstances that he moved to the middle. Palacios got sent off in the FA Cup semi so modric came into CM and then was brilliant, so he and Hudd became our 1st choice CM pairing.

I was just helping out the site, no need for you to get your nickers in a twist over something you did wrong.

Have a nice evening.

Plagiarism and copyrighted images, tut tut

Knickers not remotely twisted, but not convinced this is particularly helpful, as opposed to say, a pm just reminding me. I don't even know what you're on about with the plagiarism comment.

You too.

Why should I have to tell you the rules when you already knew what they were? I didnt have to send you a pm, as I posted in the thread, but you chose to ignore my post until A&C edited your post and you then gave me a disagree?! So do you disagree about posting copyrighted material?

Redknapp's been the best manager since I've followed the club. He seems like a nice ol' guy and when we were good with him, we were good.

I still think AVB is the man to take us forward but those still having digs at Redknapp just look petty IMO.

That's right Redknapp keep absolving yourself of blame for blowing a 10 point lead over Arsenal.

What, you believed we were going to beat Arsenal at the Immigrants, United anywhere, and a resurgent Everton at Goodison? And that Arsenal weren't going to find their mojo?

Maybe you should have a rant at Nicholson for winning just the one league title.

Maybe not. But I don't think it's particularly unreasonable to expect Spurs to beat Norwich or Stoke at home, or QPR or Villa away. Just one win in any of those four incredibly winnable games would have been sufficient. Hell, a draw against Norwich or QPR would have seen us finish ahead of Arsenal on goal difference.

It would, and it's those games that rankle. That 10-point lead was always illusory, though.

And, shit happens. No-one slates Nicholson for winning just the one league title, do they?

I know what it is, but since I'm not claiming to have written the article myself and gave the source I've no idea what you're referring to. Still. Unless you actually don't understand it yourself and have simply managed to post something with no point.

I didn't ignore your post, I logged out after posting the thread, then logged in today and saw A&C's message first of all, thanked him for it and apologised for the images, came in to the thread and saw your post which was unnecessary and patronising, and disliked it because I... er... disliked it when I read it. For obvious reasons. There are many ways you could've gone about posting (or maybe just shut up actually) and that wasn't exactly the nicest or most helpful. Pay attention and notice that I didn't Disagree with your post at all.

And you shouldn't have to tell me the rules. And you don't. It's not your place. Unless you want to be friendly and send me a pm saying 'just a reminder mate/not sure if you've realised/you may not know' etc then why not just shut the fuck up and let the mods do their jobs, which A&C did perfectly well?

I've been around this place long enough to know the rules (a lot longer than you) which is why I almost never break them, even by mistake, but when posting a long cut & paste article which I thought my fellow Spurs fans would find interesting at an ungodly hour in the morning, it did unfortunately manage to pass my mind to go back and remove the images that pasted in as part of the post.

What, seriously, is your problem? Just butt out if you're not going to comment on the actual point of the thread. This is pointless. It's not even like the images are still there.

Ha! Going to the Emirates and playing a 442 against the 5 man midfield of a team who play possession football was not "unlucky" as Redknapp states. It was just plain stupid.

And those who are writing AVB off after THREE games are not?

I think he probably has a point re the 'intellectual coaches'. I remember being really impressed listening to AVB's first interview for Spurs, like, really really impressed by the eloquence and erudition of the man. But then it dawned on me, 'will he be able to communicate his ideas and theories to the players?' and 'will the players be able to translate this into consistent performances on the pitch?'.

I don't think I answered the question in my interior monologue. I think I just ignored it, annoyed at my sense of optimism being washed away by the realisation that English/Premiership footballers are spoilt little brats (particularly, I felt, the English lads at Spurs, Parker aside) and that any grand ideas AVB may have of transforming us into an English Porto would be strangled at birth by stubborn, spoilt, lazy players, reluctant to adapt to advanced coaching techniques.

I think coaches like Redknapp say things like this because the way they think about the game is simple.

AVB is part of a new breed of manager like Jose that look into the details a little further. It would be a massive shock if AVB did give his players 70 page dossiers. I am sure he goes to the chairman with 70 page dossiers and he makes very detailed training plans with science and statistics taken into consideration both on the planning and execution stage. That doesn't mean the the instructions he gives the players are that complicated.

Take Barca for example, they keep the ball and keep the ball because defending is harder work physically and mentally. When they wear you down and your concentration breaks they have the best attacking talent in the world to take advantage. If they do lose the ball they have small, well balanced players that can press you because they can change direction quickly and have fast feet. The way they play the game is not that complicated. The detail they go into when they think about how to teach players to carry out their game plan is clearly intense. In order to make this work though they do start coaching players but the age of 8 and rely mostly on players that have had the details established as habits from an early age.

Managers like Don Revie were preparing massive dossiers decades ago.

It was. Were you one of those crowing that we were going to the Emirates to officially end Arsenal's season, though?
