Could someone please point me in the direction of what HW's cousin had to say..? I've seen a summary but without context or knowing where it was posted originally...

Thanks, I saw this though, which is what prompted me to ask what the source and context was!

I just think that for all parties a move would be best for him. No hate on the player at all but he does go hiding too often and that will never be good enough for JM.

I've always liked Winks and tbh some of the insulting crap being posted about him in here is unecessary and just generally a bit base level behaviour.

With all that said, how a player responds to adversity tells you a lot and it strikes me that Winks has not handled the last 6 months very well. His interviews have been negative and all very 'woe is me'. Dele on the other hand kept his head down, has worked hard and is, albeit slowly, worked his way back in, at least to the squad.

For whatever reason it's not working for him under Mourinho but that doesn't make him a bad player. Different managers like different styles. Winks is a good, honest footballer but he's sulking and there's just no room for that. If he can't grow up a bit and understand that this is a team sport then there's no future for him here.

Equally he can try to outlast the manager and hope the next man favours him. I refuse to accept that he's not good because I've seen him run games against top opposition in the champions league. It may have been a while back but he's still capable.
Capable of Running the game against top opposition by passing sideways and backward? As that’s all he does these days,

Obviously we are all guessing, but the fact he’s completely dropped from the team suggested he’s one of the players Hugo was talking about and I just don’t see a way back for him after this with or without Jose here.

The Madrid game at home he was very good and then who else did he “run the game” against at Champions League level? Spurs fans use that game like Arsenal fans used to with Wilshere against Barcelona to try and make a case for them. It’s not relevant anymore. He’s regressed as a player whilst his sense of entitlement has grown. Clearly not someone you can rely on when the going gets tough. Which may be a symptom of his development as well as his personality. Simply has to be moved on in the summer. He’s one of the non-negotiables that have to go.

We can discuss his abilities as a footballer till we're blue in the face as there's very much a divided opinion on him. For me, the attitude is key. If he's not got that (or worse is spreading malaise, even inadvertently), in the absence of completely bucking his ideas up - 180 degree style - then there should be no place for him at the club.

Happens with most players.

I like Winks, more for the player he could have been for us, but he hasn't pushed on for a while now.

We have given him time, but we should be moving him and Sissoko on and refresh the squad if we can (even brining Skipp back would be good!)

All this recent talk does make me think he is a bit 'entitled' and when you look at it he has had it pretty easy his entire career and probably hasn't a clue how lucky he has actually been. Could be wrong of course but this is how it looks.

I’m not gonna hang the lad just yet. But it’s pretty telling that he was dropped for Devine last night imo.

I think winks is a good player but like most of our midfielders they do not excel in a midfield 2. A blind person can see it why can't Jose.

So is it just Winks who Jose and Hugo have been referring to in terms of the bad attitude?

or have we had confirmation from any ITK on any others? Dele? Dier? Sissoko? All still named on the bench yesterday so not sure what that means...

I've no clue if there's any truth to Winks being a bad apple I'm certainly not going to fleck spittle in his direction should we move him on.

All I can go off is what I see with my own eyes and ears; his reaction on the AON doc, his own words in interviews.
I think Poch calling him his "little Inniesta"has contributed to a player getting too comfortable and slightly big headed and deep down knowing it and then worrying he'll be exposed when José was appointed.
He's not helped by not really fitting a José team.

Those that say he's not good enough for a top 6 side I'll slightly disagree with; true he likely wouldn't get in most of their starting XI's but he's exactly the type that those sides will buy to pack their squad to keep their HG quota up enabling them to also sign bigger names from abroad.

There's a core of players who've gotten stale, comfy and quite probably fed up with each others company over the last 6 plus years and should've been progressively moved on. Winks fits into this group IMHO.

There's one other thing I haven't seen discussed and I feel it may also be a factor in some individuals, they've all been living in a covid bubble as long as we all have, they may be slightly free-er than the rest of us but they're still missing contact with friends and relatives and a lot of them are relatively young, they may get paid very well and have little of your sympathy but we tend to forget it's just a job to most of them. I do think some of them are struggling mentally with it.

I heard the fall out happened in preseason,

The squad wheeled out a birthday cake on Kane's birthday saying happy birthday Harry, at which point Winks blew out the candle's

Kane and half the squad reacted angrily at Winks, asking him what the fuck he was doing,

To which Winks replied blowing out my birthday cake

Harry Winks 8 First start in over a month, made light of lack of match fitness. Tidy on ball. Standing ovation when withdrawn.

Funny how every time baldy is under pressure there are a host of leaks and bits of info that lead others to be the focus of fans ire - from Poch to Jose to Winks

The buck stops with levy - frankly wish Joe Lewis would tell Baldy to stick to the real estate side and bring in some actual talent on the football side.

Huh?

I thought he is just a poor player but turns out he's also a dick. Interesting. Even if it turns out that's bullshit and he's acting like Mother Teresa he should be sold purely based on his footballing abilities. Yes, I know he played great against Madrid but considering the fact it was 3.5 years ago I think we shouldn't consider that game anymore.
