Well you missed some moments in the match then. A couple times he split the defense with short runs with the ball as well as made some nice passes forward. The other thing he did, and always does, is offer pressure relief in that players can play him the ball when the team is under pressure knowing that his pass will be somewhere (backwards, sideways, forward) that relieves pressure. Thought it was a good first game back after being out with injury.
I'm not saying it wasn't a good first game back, I'm saying he is capable of more. Toby was playing his first game in however long, he was still biting into challenges and pinging the ball around. Regarding the bold, I agree he does that well - but yesterday almost every pass was just the way he was facing. If we're playing with Wanyama and Winks - we need Winks to be more adventurous, imo. As I said in my subsequent post, I do understand why he played as he did and I love the guy, but I'm not going to pretend it was a performance to get excited about. (Conversely, it's true that it's more about the minutes and rhythm)
Some of you lot get far too defensive, when people aren't even harshly criticising.
