Modric's head will be right when he has that little sit down with Levy in a months time and gets a rise in his wages....expect a little statement from him then to, akin to Rooney.

We'll be top of the league then too

Can someone clarify for this for me:

Did Harry say Luka didn't play against Hearts because his head wasn't right

OR

He wont be playing tomorrow because his head isn't right?

He didn't say anything about Hearts.

"Luka has a slight injury but to be honest he could play through it but his head isn't right at the moment"

So Harry is saying Modric won't be playing tomorrow night because his head isn't right?

Well there goes the good cop/bad cop theory.....announcing that is hardly being all friendly with Modric.

Either that or Harry is doing him a favour and wants the fans to turn on him so he gets his move....

Or you could just take it for face value - Harry's handled the whole situation terribly and Modric's turning the screw.

Now that Harry's going this route and playing into his hands that spells the beginning of the end. He'll be sold this summer now 100%.

Think of the millions of people on c10k or less a year. This little rat has the cheek to complain about what 40-60k a week?
Oh please. Footballers must suddenly have public morals?

If you got an offer to do your jub for someone else for three times your salary you'd take it in a shot.

Yeah he might want to win things but if you want out do it respectfully. I do not think any of us would have blamed him had he done it all behind closed doors.
Rubbish. There would still be many fans complaining that he had signed a new contract and them immediately fucked off.

However to come out and publicly state that our 2nd biggest rivals, those plastic nobodys who are only a now well known club because a Russian oil money man decided he wanted a new playtoy ARE A BIGGER CLUB THAN US? It just isn't on. To have had the cheek to say he wont disrespect the fans by handing in a transfer request but at the same time bang on about how great the chavs are is not on.
I hate to tell you this, but they are a bigger club. Maybe not by history, but by wealth, revenue, players and repeated CL campaigns. Hard to accept, but the gruesome truth I am afraid.

Not only does it embarres the club but it also limits our abillity to get top dollar for him dramtically by him saying he A) wants out and B) wants to stay in London and move to Chelsea specifically.
It doesn't limit our ability to get top dollar at all. He is early in a long term contract and we hold all the cards.

Oh and for the record, i think he used the "wont disrespect the fans" line to cover himself so he gets his sell on fees that hed lose out on by handing in a transfer request.
I don't think any fans would respect a player who goes on strike, transfer request or not.

by the way, the 'snag' stuff over the Adebayor deal didn't sound alarming either, more sort of anticipated, which is totally natural given the complexity of the deal regarding wages, and expected to overcome.

What if he isn't? Will you be prepared to have this quoted back to you?

This comment has proper pissed me off. What BS. So in other words he hasn't got an injury and he's being left out because he's unhappy! Mark my words, he's gone now.

Harry said he expects at least a couple of players in so I wouldn't be surprised if he was referring to Ade & Diarra in that if those deals are pretty much wrapped up.

Yes, but I wouldn't expect to be paid at my current job while refusing to work.

I took it as that's why he didn't play against Hearts. Didn't he say he "could've played through it"? Also I think he said it around the time he was talking about the Hearts game.

Since you wouldn't be a footballer you wouldn't need to refuse to work. You'd just resign and take the new job.

Plus, there is no indication he has refused to work. He does have an injury and all Harry has said is that he might have been able to play through it.

We can't assume without the facts.

Sorry but that arguement is nonsensical. Theres a difference between doubling 10 grand a year and 60k a week no matter who you are or what you do or who cuts your hair. Unless you were born into a family of millionaires you will understand this as most footballers will.

Yes fans would still complain but to nowhere near the same level had he not bigged up our second biggest rivals.

It's not about whether they are a bigger club or not, we are very tightly matched over history and you DO NOT come out and say things like that along with saying you wont disrespect the fans.

It does limit our abillity. We can no longer play bidding teams off each other. We have one available suitor which limits the amount we can sell for. Supply and demand and all that.

As for going on strike, well obviously we would respect him for it but im merely noting that i think, because of his comments in the press that he has an alterior motive for saying he wont hand in a transfer request.

I'd like to know as well just to clarify.

Neither.
He said modric has an injury.
An injury he could maybe have played through. And his head isn't right. But that doesn't mean he didn't play because his head isn't right.

I dont think this means he's gone at all, yes sulking because we won't let him go but not gone. I would still be amazed if we sold him. Levy put his neck on the line and said he wasn't selling our best players and Modric wasn't going anywhere and I imagine he doesn't like looking stupid. Ben today said we would let him rot if need be. Just cause Harry has said that his head isn't in the right place, which I'm sure he has insuited a few times before, doesn't mean we are selling him.
