Thought this was worth sharing with you all, as it's made my day!

My next door neighbour's son, who is seven, is currently away on a school trip for a couple of days. It's his birthday soon, so for a surprise, his Mum was going to paint his bed bedroom blue while he was away and put down a new carpet as he supported Chelsea, along with buying a Chelsea kit and a few posters. However, he's just phoned home to say he doesn't support Chelsea anymore as they're crap and he's getting ribbed by his friends. He now wants to support Spurs (n). Even better, his Mum's a Gooner, so is now spitting feathers because she has bought a load of Chelsea stuff for his birthday and her son has decided to support Spurs. Loving it!

My boy is nearly 10 now but I was fortunate that Bale came into his own at the time all his mates started choosing Chelsea and City. GB scoring wonder goal after wonder goal kept his attention well enough. Early last season there was a brief period where he would always pick Chavs on fifa, but then Kane exploded into life at just the right time to pull him back away from the dark side. Now he is always Spurs no matter who his mates pick, and just moans that EA don't know what they are doing because they have under rated most of our players.

People go away on school trips at seven now?

Not normally. There's a local Infant School that joins their school at yr 4. As a kind of a settling in thing, they all away on a getting to know you thing for a few days. Seems to work, as my son (who is a couple of years older) is now best friends with one of the kids who joined in yr 4.

Doesn't every parent just make their kids support their team. I had no choice when I was a kid and neither did my 4 sons. It must be dysfunctional families that let their kids choose.;)

You don't know the half of it... Dad supports Man U, elder brother supports Man U, Mum supports the Gooners and now the son supports Spurs. Only thing they all agree on in MK Dons as their second team.

I wasn't allowed to force Spurs on to my son, even in the face of my step-father encouraging him to support the Gooners.

Slowly but surely he is getting into football, has been to a Spurs game and tells people he supports Spurs. I was never pushed into it as a kid, just taken to games. The magic of Hoddle, Ardiles, Villa etc did the rest.

I am not pushing Spurs on my two year old. She does however know how to shout COME ON YOU SPURS! and sing Oh When the Spurs!

During the last international break we were watching Ireland and Poland and I started to sing Come on you Boys in green but she cut me off after the you part and shouted SPURS! Needless to say I was ecstatic with that little win.

Not pushing Spurs onto your kid?

When I have one it's going to be strapped up like Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange - eyes clamped open watching endless repeats of Greaves, Gilzean, Hoddle, Ardiles, Ginola, Bale and VDV!

If I was his mum I'd have painted his room red and told him "it's arsenal or an orphanage"

Likewise if he was my kid I'd paint it white and blue. ....

What's this ?!

Kids not being coerced to support dads team ?

What's gone wrong with the World.
Yeah, it's every dad's duty to brainwash their kid.

It's not just for us though, we're also doing it for the kids.. You don't want to have some little man running around screaming in ecstasy with a shit eating grin on his face whenever the Scum wins in the NLD. After all, child abuse is not cool and can get you locked away for a long time.

It's not forcing, coercing or brainwashing your child to support Spurs, it is enlightening them, enabling them and improving them and any good father should know that.

I suspect this lad chose Spurs (and Chelsea before) because his Mum supports Arse and his Dad Man U. He's a bit of headstrong independent chap (could use stronger language here, but probably best not too!). Same reason as I won't push my girl into Spurs as she's the same. I'll just take her to the Lane and let the football (hopefully) do the flirting.

My old man is utd, however please believe with my kids it is non negotiable...its either Spurs or every event (xmas, birthdays, easter, halloween the lot) are cancelled and if they ever even dared support the Gooners then i will marching them to the Doctors for a DNA test...
