Stones is a very, very good player. Everton have themselves a good one there.

Really enjoying watching this, Carroll looks such a tidy player.
i'd want us to pick up garbutt if we didn't already have rose.
Sorry guys, I'm just now tuning in, have Redmond and Pritch largely stuck to these respective sides or have they alternated?
It may be good, but I disagree with the 'for his age' part. There are shitloads of good young midfielders nowadays. His speed of thought, closeness of touch, and sheer creativity/originality is fantastic for his age.

He's better than Davies for sure.i'd want us to pick up garbutt if we didn't already have rose.

Do you think Carroll is better than all our current midfielders? And I disagree with that. Even other players of potential don't often possess his sheer ingenuity. He comes up with some truly bizarre stuff, and has the close touch to pull it off.
In fact, I would argue it even borders on being a weakness. Some of his ideas are so unusual that I think it makes it somewhat more difficult for his teammates to predict what he's thinking, and so a lot of his touches to them in tight and closed spaces don't come off. He looks to tuned this up a bit more, and if he really gets it tight and plays with players who can read him, it can be a tremendous strength.
Ward-Prowse conversely is a tremendously talented player and may be more efficient, but he just doesn't possess the creativity Carroll does.

Why don't we just use Winks? He seems to be a similar player and is 3-4 years younger. No, but I don't get too hung up on saying only the best quality players should play at any given point in time. It's extremely important to have diverse and balanced options, and Carroll offers abilities and skills which none of our other midfielders possess. I do think he could go on to be a better player than Mason if he's allowed to continue to develop, but more importantly, he provides an entirely different option to our midfielders of the future in Mason, Bentaleb, and Alli.
We're absolute shit in tight areas, and very poor at playmaking from deep. I don't think we should be getting rid of a homegrown, quality deep playmaker who proved himself well in his last consistent month of EPL play. Having nothing but double pivot midfielders would be a very, very poor plan.
