One game when he was manager, possibly against Sunderland but don't quote me, their goalkeeper kicked it straight out of play near the dugouts. He was giving out some instructions, heard the crowd shout/jeer the shit kick, quickly did a half turn and just killed the ball stone dead out the sky with one touch. Ridic

Having only seen highlights and replays of Hoddle, I am enjoying reading the comments of those who were fortunate enough to see him live

Hodd was my idol growing up

Him, Gazza and Bale are the best I've seen at WHL

All absolutely brilliant on their day of which they had plenty

Was born in 88 so didn't have the pleasure of watching Hodd but from the highlights I've watched I'd say that from a purely technical perspective Hoddle is the closest thing to Cruyff, truly exceptional.

I'd pay to watch Glen simply warm up, ridiculous talent. Can you imagine him with playing surfaces today. Could put more back spin on a ball than a table tennis champion!

As much as every one loved Bobby robson, he fucked up hoddles England career being dropped for neil postman Webb, always remember clougj stating he would have played over 100 games for England if he was the boss, rennet plastic pitch at QPR and hoddle was only player who could controll the bounce and dominate on his own, greatest ever

Can someone please stick this Sky documentary up as a download somewhere once it's aired? Would be much appreciated by all Spurs fans, I feel.

Had the pleasure of watching him throughout his Spurs career including his short time in the Youth team. Watching the clips now makes me marvel again at just how good he was. Superb balance and control, two footed, there was nothing he couldn't make the ball do.

No matter how the ball came to him his range of passing was intuitive and always perfectly weighted, a skill that many players seem to lack nowadays. It was also noticeable how in those days we had players who took up intelligent positions, who attacked crosses and got numbers into the opponents box. Something today's players need to do a lot more of.

I know this thread is about Hoddle but there are also a few glimpses of Tony Galvin in full flow , a player who I think was vastly underrated by many but was an important cog in that mid/late 80s team.

Same here, for a while I lived in Manchester and in those days it was hard to find team news. I used to drive down and there were times when it came on the radio that Hoddle was not playing and I was always gutted about it as he was a joy to watch.

That youtube clip brought back sweet memories of the man. Reminds me again why he is my favourite player of all time. Pure genius.

Better than mackay and blanchflower as the greatest spurs playee of all time perhaps? Didnt watch those 2 but i wpuld like to think so.

I was lucky enough to have seen both of those play many times ( and they were great players no doubt) but Hoddle was a genius and without a doubt the best I have seen.

Thanks and that brings a wide smile to my face, knowing that I've seen the best ever player for spurs playing and seeing him get the recognition he so deserves.

Think that says more about the england manager s and f.a. than the players how le tiss and hoddle dont have 100 caps each is embarrassing. Then look and geoff thomas and carlton palmer playing in midfield and you wanna scream
Okay, his left was a 7 iron and his right an 8.

The sad thing was he was more appreciated in France than he was here. Michel Platini said if he was French he would have had over 150 caps for the national team.

Same with Waddle, it was only when he went to France, he got the respect his talent deserved.

Just watched it on demand , just see his goal against United sums up how good he was. A volley with both feet if the floor, a legend fair play to wenger as well stating he would of had more CEOs if he was French
