And that little anecdote sums up our glorious Legend of the Lane.

Many players who played under Glen have said that he almost seemed like he had to have the final "say" on the training ground. He would out-pass, out-cross, out-shoot the players he was supposed to be managing. He couldn't distance himself from the hollywood element. It belittled players who weren't up to his precise, intricate style of play.

Heard this before, but if a player is outplayed by his middle age manager, he should either up his game or accept he's just not as good as he thinks he is. Many mediocre players adored Hoddle, if a players got an attitude problem with an ego to match, is that Hoddles fault? Perhaps Hoddles problem was that he prefered to encourage players rather than disipline them, and some bigheads got comfortable, wheras a ferguson character would have given them a slap and told them that if they don't start sweating in training, they'll be off to sunderland!

Audrey was Eileen's sister in law that lived in Bengeo.

She visited recently and preached far in these areas, namely around the cricket pitch.

Due to local dialect, 'Far' became 'fire' and a fire engine got stuck on a crickate peitch nearby.

Pitchforks were out.

Eileen however is a stable grandmother of 6 living in Berkamsted with a Proton in the garage with nice shiny stripey stuff up the side that says "Hoddle drove this car only once and God paid to be a passenger".

Forget sentiments, look at the... hang on.. what are you drinking? >>>who by the way has now got us to have the best youth team in Europe

Hoddle has been a proven player generator at Swindon and Chelsea. The trouble starts when big-shots start appearing on the scene.

That's why I reckon, if you can put the revision aside, I think he would be great within an Academy role at THFC.

Sorry, don't you follow Spurs news? We have entered the three top youth tournaments in Europe this season, and we have won two. We therefore have the best youth team in Europe.

By the way, I am not drinking, and not revising. It seems unlike some people here, I can handle a few beers and have finished puberty. So if you would prefer not to make snidey little comments I will be happy to help you sort out some facts, rather than your emotions. Still with those hormones flying about you are bound to be a little confused.

I may be wrong, I am sure I read that we have won two comps this year.

Either way, you are basing your thoughts on sentimental feelings about a once great player. I don't want this thread to change into a pro/anti DC thread, since people don't actually understand his job.

I think it would be nice to employ Hoddle in some role at the club, I don't think that it should be at board level though, not by a long shot.

I saw this bit in the Mercury today.

My 4 and a half year old has got the local dialect, funny to hear, he says "Nahr" for now and other little gems - bit like Norfolk twang. Oh yeh - like "sult" meaning salt.

funny stuff.

Real Madyid - I am not placing fiction, only fact. Sentiments dont come into it. Hoddle is a clever man, on pitch and off. His views on the game go over most peoples' heads.

I will give you a bet now that should Levy sell the club, Hoddle will become instrumental in the club moving forward.

I'm with you on that RM, and I think, probably the majority of posters in this thread.

The concept that Hoddle has taken and is riding with has merit. Take discarded young professionals that Clubs have no time to nurture and mature in to fine players and before they get lost and disillusioned in non-league football, he will re-acadamise them.

If hoddle polishes one rough and raw kid in to a gem he's done this country a service.

If his concept works and he grows in to his work, there may very well be a place for him back in mainstream football, and why not at Spurs as head of our own Academy?

I'd like to put my thruppence worth into this thread, there is no doubt GH was a gifted footballler of his generation, a total and utter natural with a football brain to match his ability, but from what I remember from that time his academic side was definitely leaning more to CSE rather than GCE levels.

I loved the man and worshipped the ground he walked upon and glided across, but conversation, interpretation and man management may have been his let-down, working class, Harlow boy, with no further education etc.

A similar guy today - Joe Cole of Chelsea, good football skills but without those skills I reckon he would be a trolley wally in a local supermarket.

Former Spurs boss Hoddle claims a group millionaire businessmen have already had bids of £55 million and £65 million rejected.

Hoddle, who took over at Wolves last week on a short-term contract revealed he hopes he could be handed the White Hart Lane reigns if the takeover is successful.

Hoddle is reported to have held talks with a consortium before joining Wolves and Hoddle who was sacked by Spurs six games into last season, believes the current set-up at the club is "amateurish"

"My contacts have already put in two bids for Tottenham but Daniel Levy won't budge at the moment," Hoddle told the Sunday People.

"These guys are millionaires. They have put in bids of £55million and £65 million but Levy wanted £90million for it.

"Daniel is having his last little go at it but if the pressure comes on then he'll run one day.

"Knowing Daniel as I know him, he will not like the pressure, especially if there is chanting against him from the fans - he is not an Alan Sugar and he is not a football man and he doesn't need all this - who does?

"I really do believe there is a chance of it happening if the team continue to struggle.

"Hopefully these guys would say: `Glenn, you run the football side. You work hand in hand with the chief executive and you have three or four people full-time on the scouting side.' The way they do it at the moment is amateurish."

some more info. about his last job at Wolves, as some people and media said that he was failed, it was not true. His time was decent not failure. As Big fan for GH, I followed his results/news as always and i can tell you the fact.

season 2004-2005, he came at Dec. with 6 months deal and the club in 17th .. only numbered points from last three .. he finished 10th .. with W9 - D15 - L1 with very very limited resources. The fans and the board were very impressed, and they really wanted him as they felt he could go to EPL club or Lyon ( as he was linked with them ) .. but he signed rolling 1 year deal.

in seaosn 2005-2006, with last season very stonge form, he just needed 3 games in the following season to break a record .. He did it and become the first manager to make unbeaten run for 23 games for Wolves since 1943 (i think) ... and most managers in the championship said that Wolves are the best footballing side. while the club targeted play-off spots, poor finishing costs them and Hoddle decided to pay £1.4m for one of top scorers liga D2 in Spain "Fankowski" but the man failed to make impact and the club didn't make play-off spot.. they finished 7th .. but it was shocking to claim that failure by Wolves fans for Media, He forced big pressure by fans, board and media after not making play-off place. Club managing dircetor Jez Moxey said in programe notes ''the season is complete disaster'' and media asked Hoddle about his reaction about these quotes by their managing director and they told him the club consider not to offer new deal at the end of season which made Hoddle more angrier as the fact his contract is rolling and asked the reporter to come back with appologize. Then, The Board made a vote of confidence meeting at the end of the season. Hoddle reacted angrly to Moxey claims about using 'disaster' word, he said that is should be used for relegation battle not to finish one place behind play off spots. And Mr. Moxy asked Hoddle to reconsider his decision when he announced his resignation in 1 july. He said that himself in official site, But Also media hit back again at Hoddle as they claimed he resigned after just 24 hours for securing deals for his staff Carl Hoddle and other one who i can't remember. Let alone Wolves sites also said that his decision come just 1 hour before England vs Portugal as they claimed he tried to keep his failure of not to be leaked to media (!!)

they were other clubs finished like that and they didn't describe that as big failure or disaster like Charlton recently ( Why the media didn't that Pardew ? ) .. you could easily know they hate him too much since his day with England.

Finaly, sorry as always for any language errors.

The report made by the people, Do yo trust them ? ok. click here

"I can assure you I have never sat down with any consortium," the former Tottenham boss told Sky Sports.
"I don't know where it comes from but I am delighted to be Wolves manager. My first weekend back and there's a story I scratch my head about but it is great to be back in football. "I've sat down with no one so to say I've had meetings with this consortium is fantasy."

Times have changed since then. I'm convinced Hoddle has had his chance to be a hero at Spurs in another role and won't have that chance again. He was a rubbish manager, but a gifted footballer imo.

it would be a newcastle-esq appointment to have him as a DOF. And to suggest he's better or more knowledgeable than Comolli is laughable.

it wasn't Southgate/Rijkaard type of appointments, was it ? ( i meant managing in top level easily by using his reputation as player )

so .. How he was appointed here if he isn't that good ?
But that is exactly how he got into management!! Player wise in his day...one of the best, as a manager he fell short especially where certain attributes were missing example man - management.
